OT-Tebow to Jets

Submitted by MGoBeer on

NYJ trade a fourth round pick to Denver. I Wonder what Tebow will think of Rex Ryan's foul mouth.

For a 4th round pick i'd have happily taken Tebow here in Cleveland.  At least he'd provide some interest in going to the games as opposed to our current offense of.....of.....well....who?  We could've built the O around him given we've got NOTHING here now to start from and we're picking 4th (again) in the draft.

Instead we let Hillis go, still have the village idiot Shurmer for a head coach and will probably swap our first round draft pick to the Pats for their #1 and two 5th rounders in 2015.

Well there's the rub now isnt it.  According to Shurmer & Hollmgren we do but i see NO evidence of it.  Certainly it hasnt been effective on any level to date and whether it's personal or playcalling is irrelevant to me.  It sucks.

The problem (as I see it) is that Holmgren is SO married to his "system" he refuses to believf it won't work no matter who is running it.  And if year 1 of the Colt McCoy experiment taught us anything it's that it does matter.

Hell of a day for NFL news.

Word is Mark Sanchez is already going ballistic, not that it really matters.  He wasn't exactly setting the world on fire.

This is a Woody Johnson move.  He was feeling pretty neglected after the Super Bowl and wanted to get back some buzz.  If nothing else he has succeeded in that.

As a Giants fan I'm getting a laugh here at work looking at Jet fans just shake their heads. I don't hate the Jets at all. I hate Dallas and Philly. The Jets i just laugh at.  Rex said they were going to take over the town. Priceless.

This is a fantastic deal by the Jets! Are you kidding me- for a 4th round pick you get a media superstar! If Rex Ryan and Sanchez weren't drawing enough free publicity, now the Jets have stolen the media darling of all who follow the anointed one. Believers unite and just switch your Tebow merchandise purchases to the Jets' website! Excuse me, gotta go and buy me a few shares of Jet stock!

I wonder if Tim Tebow has nice feet...

In all seriousness, I wonder what he will play in NY. Didn't Mark Sanchez get a new contract this year? I guess a little competition never hurt anyone.

I'm glad he didn't go to Jacksonville - that would have fucked up Henne's situation down there.  Now Henne only needs to battle a quite-terrible second year QB who no one actually likes.

Why this move for the Jets? I can't make sense of it. I'm not a Tebow basher at all, but the Jets just signed Sanchez to an extension that gives him good money to be their QB. Not that Sanchez is great or anything, but why bring in a guy that can't even run the offense the Jets run to be their backup?

My guess is the Jets view this as having a competent backup QB who can be used in certain short yard situations and also be possibly useful at other positions on occasions.

The guy is a stud competitor and is probably one of those players that gets others around him to up their effort as well.  And he's good for some media buzz.

So all that for a 4th round?  I can see it.

As a friend of mine said when he heard about the trade, "If New York City is the Beatles, the Giants are John, Paul and George and the Jets....are Ringo..."

God the Jets are stupid.  They think they're being so clever, oh look at us, we'll put Tebow in there to run the wildcat and it'll add a new wrinkle and a new dimension to our already totally unstoppable offense!!  Look at me, I'm Tony Sparano, I used the wildcat all the time with Pat White and it was fucking genius!  Fucking Dopey the Dwarf can figure out that when Tebow comes into the game, it'll be just like when Pat White did, and every armchair linebacker within 20 miles knows they're going to run the wildcat when Tebow trots in, and he'll be slaughtered.

Unless the Jets have learned from past mistakes - unlikely because Rex Ryan actively works every day on not learning from past mistakes - this is a guaranteed disaster.
