Rock me, Amadeo ?
I'm looking for the good news today also. Interesting timing, but earlier today UMHoops posted a brief interview with Amadeo Della Valle.
I won't post the whole thing here, as you can go read it there, but I found this quote from Amadeo regarding the possibility of an open scholarship to be quite interesting- ”I’m not sure, but I think [maybe a spot might open]. I’m not sure though. Coach Beilein is supposed to come Thursday to my game. We’re playing some scrimmages because we play in an ESPN tournament at the end of the month, so he’s going to come out to watch the scrimmage.”

The reason that I am calling this good news is that it makes me think that Beilein and staff knew this was coming, were not caught off guard, and were already making contingency plans.
PS - I still think Smot was going to have an excellent junior season with UM, but I wish all three of them the best.
Rubio 2.0? Please?
Only without the whole "Waiting for three years until he actually plays in the US" please.
When JB visits him tomorrow, I'm guessing he put the full court press and tells him that we have open spots available.
Michigan has always struggled with the full court press... on the court

Did you think all three guys walked into his office at the same time today and then he immediately announced it to the media?
it going down as a Twitter conversation. One tweeted "I'm out." and the other two just re-tweeted the same thing because they thought it was a good idea. Totally spontaneous without warning. Turns out that the first guy was just talking about cereal and when he got back from Meijer, it was too late to back out...
meh. if he sucks he's gonna transfer and if he's good he'll just leave after a year. I have to root for complete mediocrity from every player from now on unless they are seniors
sending players to the NBA helps. Sending players to the NBA for 5 games before going to the D league does not
That was Darius' fault. One more year under Coach B could have done wonders.
We encouraged him to look into declaring and once he did he liked what he saw.
Who have we sent recently to the NBA? I mean, Morris and Harris left agaist JBs advice (I am assuming), and they both are in D-League obscurity right now. Morris now has Sessions to deal with if he wants to get any kind of playing time with LA, and Harris has Irving (is Manny still on the Cavs?)
Harris and Irving don't play the same position. If not for the odd frozen foot incident caused by the lockout he probably would have been in the NBA all season.

Based on that video, boy is about to get peer pressured to go play for Arizona with his teammate.
Yeah the first news of Michigan being interested in this kid broke maybe 2 months ago and everyone was puzzled at the time, and it led to some speculation. Now it makes more sense obviously. I loved this kid the first time I watched video of him lighting up other euro squads. Great passer, loves to push the ball, great shooter. Let's hope he signs with us. He will play an integral role at both guard spots if he does sign and will soften the loss of Stu. Hopefully the whole global michigan brand thing can help us out here.
There really is not much info available about him that I have found, so I'm glad to hear that. Anyone else that knows anything much about his game, feel free to chime in.
All I can tell you is that he is about 6'5 and wiry, and can shoot the ball. He well may be what we have come to think of as that prototypical European guard, but I just don't know enough to say. He might help us replace Smot's 3 point shooting though.
It sounds like he is staying out west but we could really use a point guard with size to take some pressure off of Trey.
I see what you did there.
In his euro highlight video, if you squint, he looks like Pauly Shore. I like Pauly Shore. Therefore, I want this kid to come to Michigan.
He certainly has the hair to be a fan favorite, combine that with broken English spoken in an Italian accent, everybody's gonna love this guy.

I SOOOOO want to bring my Italian flag to a game next year.
