Larry Lage is NOT BUYING that we actually scheduled UConn

Submitted by FabFiver5 on

I didn't see this posted anywhere else, but if it is, my apologies.

mvictors.com posted a WTKA interview with Larry Lage where he said that he's not sold on the fact that Michigan has actually scheduled UConn.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Could get interesting.

Did someone just float this out to see how folks would react to the news?

Conspiracy theories abound!

I wanted to know if there's been anyone else out there in the "media" that has voiced the same apprehensions about the story itself.

From what I've read, it seemed like an open-and-shut case. But maybe with no official release from either school, could it possibly be untrue?

Just found it interesting that Lage would say that.

This news broke last week about UCONN and the University still has not said anything. I am thinking they were close to signing on the dotted line but when this news broke and the uproar that insued Bill Martin might be seeing what else he can do.

Maybe this is wishful thinking but I guess only time will tell.

This is always true.

I don't know that the uproar is likely to have had anything to do with it, but I'm pretty sure the reason for silence is that there's no signed official contract.

The only other reason for silence would be some sort of delayed announcement clause in the contract, which seems... unlikely.

I am sure Bill doesn't care what we think but I wonder how many of the deep pocket alumni (especially the ones who gave alot of money for the stadium renovation) have complained about the rumors. I have a feeling Bill Martin listens to them somewhat.

I am personally neutral on the game. I have that feeling you said only well it's not Georgia but at least it isn't a MAC or I-AA team.

Where else could they have it? Do we think that UConn feels so weak as to agree to a home and neutral?

Yankee Stadium has shown itself as a venue, albeit unlikely. No chance that the Meadowlands would fill for a middling BigEast team, regardless of opponent (Ryan Field does not fill when Michigan comes to town). I am not so familiar with the area - are there other reasonable venues?

They've got other scheduling info press releases from earlier in the year, so it strikes me as a bit strange there's no mention of UConn yet. Even if the away venue question was still being worked on, I would think they would announce the home opener as a definite.

Probably a little ado about nothing, but hmmmmm.....

I would be pleased if Bill Martin jumped out of a Trojan Horse in breastplate and skirt and yelled "SURPRISE, ITS REALLY USC!" Or anyone else other than UConn. But then the Trojan horse, breastplate and skirt wouldn't make sense.....oh well, it would be funny anyways.

It is strange that the universities haven't come out and announced anything.Wouldn't it be something if it really isn't UConn and it's some other bigger school we were all hoping for.

This story is a non story because we will not know for any certainty if it is UConn or not without a press release from one of the schools.
