I don't want this one exciting. I hope we totally dominate. I hope it is not even close.
Agreed. Our fans were still there 45-60 minutes after the end of the game. I want the Irish fans to leave 45-60 minutes before the end.
I'm not really that worried about this game. ND will be possibly starting a new QB and their WR corps look pretty weak. That should allow us to stack the box and stuff the run, which Mattison did pretty well last year. If we can find suitable replacements for RVB and MM inside, we should be able to handle ND on defense.
ND is the most fucked up rivalry game we have IMO. It seems that every one is crazy and unexpected things happen every time. Both teams have won this game while being significantly out-played and having terrible QB play. And both teams have lost when they were heavy favorites. I'm always worried about this game.
We'll probably be heavy favorites if ND is starting a new QB, but I won't be surprised by anything.
Why would they be starting a new QB? Did I miss something?
Because if Rees fumbles the ball again, Brian Kelly's face will shift to a color that isn't in the visible spectrum.

Rees had my vote for MVP of that game. His backward pass when they were on our goalline was spectacular!

that I attended were:
1) last year's 35-31 win under the lights. This was, without question, the best game in any sport that I have attended.
2) our 38-0 win in 2007.
I love beating ND anytime, but shuttingthem out was so special. Last year was amazing, however I don't think my heart can take many games like that one.
I think UTL is #1 for everybody. My second favorite game that I attended was 2006 @ ND. They were #2 entering the game with Brady Quinn and Charlie Weis. Manningham had first half 3 TDs, Prescott Burgess had a pick-6, and LaMarr Woodley spent most of the day in the backfield, including a sack-forced fumble returned for a TD. After a 47-21 pantsing of their Irish, the ND fans were silent leaving the stadium and looked like they were leaving a funeral. What a day that was.
ND in 2009 was aslo pretty good. At the time it was the Tate Forcier show. I remember being so excited for him to start for 4 years and the Rich Rod spread attack to dominate the Big Ten. Safe to say, the rest of that season was disappointing.
That was the second most exciting game I have been to. The most was certainly last year UTL.
I was at that game too it was amazing. I remember Prescott Burgess picking that ball off on the second play off the game and taking it back to the house it was amazing !!
The first 38-0 game was my favorite, in 2003. Of course, the next weekend in Oregon was one of the most painful games I've ever seen in person, so the good vibrations were short lived.
The second 38-0 came against ND's worst team in the modern era. Still, it solidified ND's place as the "University of 38 to Nothing," which is what I call ND alums/fans I come accross here in the bay area.
If this was over by the half that would be grand result. I want whatever weird conglomerated Notre Dame Broadcasting Company or VS. or NBC Sports whatthehellever channel to have to hand the reins over to Mayock all night long to dissect "what is wrong with the Irish." That guy can talk paint off a wall. His post mortem report last year was the high point of the season for me.
Then a "You Mad, Bro?" press conference will be recorded on my DVR and I will rejoice with song and wine!

Those sure are nice. My heart can use some of those again. I think Hoke and Co. will start delivering some good old fashion ass whoopins in near time.
The game last year was special and I'm glad it was in Ann Arbor. The game this year, I hope we absolutely crush them on their own turf and on national TV on their own network.

I wonder if tickets are going to be anything like UTL last year. I'm hoping not.
I wouldn't be surprised if you're right (like, at all), but it would be nice if the prices dropped just due to less novelty surrounding the game.
Oh well, broke students can dream too, right?
to my own personal logic, the ticket prices should be exactly half ,since that stadium is half as awesome as ours and their fans suck and ours (most of ours) dont suck. Maybe my opinion is slanted though, just sayin.

I imagine the same deals could be had in south bend if you wait until day of.
and put the game up on the TREMENDOUS new large screens. Kinda like college football's very first Joe-vision. I'd pay a $10 donation to Mott, for example, to tailgate and watch the game with a few thousand friends. We could all chant my user name when the TV cameras come on.
You just know DB is itching to do this but obvious NASCAR style promotion is obvious...
Could you imagine if we could get Michigan Stadium to sell out an away game? That would be the ultimate recruiting pitch, " not only do we sell out every home game, we sell out away games too" . Not to mention the airtime that would recieve and the upstaging of our rival.
Awsome. Especially if we had higher attendence watching it on video at the Big House than ND had watching it live. Take that, Nebraska.
I believe Michigan has played in three of them (1982, 1988 and 1990).
Ticket prices are still going to suck.

Most important piece of information in this post is "NBC". I usually don't hate on announcers in the way some others on here do, but I'll be watching this one on mute with the radio on.
I don't have the radio option down here in Florida, and will have to listen to the "objective" N(D)BC crew call the game. I can't wait to hear how ND gets "jobbed" on every close call that goes against them, how every flag against ND is a "terrible call," and how Michigan "shoulda been flagged there" at least twenty times during the game.
At least it's been great the last few years to listen to all of the air go out of the crew at the end of the games. As much as I share the majority wish here, I am guessing that we can count on another close, well-contested game that goes down to the last minute or two.
The SW Florida area has many Miller's Ale that televise games. Jacks' in Bonita is full of M and Wing fans. The # 20 Jersey hangs over the pool table, Redmond? LaPoint? Not too many Irish fans in Naples but a shit full from Ohio. Their the ones that give B1G a bad name down here, hope to see you supporting M in Florida.

Night games at Notre Dame always mean trouble and heartbreak. We're 0-3 in them.
1982: Played flat all evening against a mediocre ND team coached by Gerry Faust. Only exciting thing that happened was a 72 yard punt return for a TD by Anthony Carter. LOST 23-17.
1988: ND's national championship squad. We kept their offense out of the end zone all night but they got their only touchdown on a Ricky Waters 81 yard punt return. 3 different lead changes in the 4th quarter. Mike Gillette's game winning field goal is just wide right in the final seconds. ND is inches from losing but their players parade around the field as if they won by 6 touchdowns. LOST 19-17.
1990: We blow a 24-14 lead in the fourth quarter. Grbac throws an interception in the endzone that would have put us up 31-14. On 3rd and long, ND gets a lucky bounce that bounced off Rocket Ismail's hands and into the hands of Lake Dawson who ran about 40 something yards to set up a touchdown. This is also the game where the ref measured for a Michigan first down using an index card. ND scores the game winning touchdown with a little over a minute remaining. LOST 28-24.

Don't all teams celebrate more when it's close than when it's a blowout actually?? It's just more exciting.
