A few interesting recruiting notes

Submitted by RollDamnTide on

Some of these are not Michigan updates, but interesting none the less.

-Robert Nkemdice (#1 prospect in the nation) is playing one hell of a hand of poker right now. It's rare in the SEC, that you get a recruit that no one can get a great read on. But the surprising thing with Robert, is he has legit interest in Ole Miss, and it doesn't seem to be "recruit speak". At the end of the day, I think he stays in Georgia, but again, I can't get a read on the situation, and that's purely speculation.

-Ty Isaac will actually be staying in Ann Arbor all weekend this weekend. That is a very good sign for Ty. If you remember, I had been saying earlier this week, that a lot of the recruiting people on the SEC boards, said expect him to come off the board soon. Ty himself has said he's not nearing a decision, but wanting to stay in Ann Arbor the entire weekend, is a good sign for Michigan. Stay tuned.

-Robert Foster, WR out of PA, and his Father are a tad confused by Urban Meyer apparently. There have been mixed signals by the Buckeye staff to both Laquon Treadwell, and Robert, for who is #1 WR target of their targets.

-Ruben Foster (#2 over all LB out of GA) commit to Alabama, is the best linebacker recruit in a decade according to talent evaluators who have watched him play. His future is probably on the inside, and is getting compared to Patrick Willis. Georgia is going full court on him right now, but there doesn't seem to be any worry on Alabama's part concerning his verbal.

If you guys like this, I'll be happy to post more recruiting updates from around the country. I didn't provide many this time, because I wasn't sure if anyone was interested.

Yeah, no one here is interested in recruiting updates...

Thanks for the information. Here is to hoping Ty does the right thing and commits to U of M this weekend.

I'm sure Urban would not have told both Treadwell and Forster that they were their #1 WR target. That would be so unlike him to not be totally honest with recruits. /s

I'm all for any recruiting updates. Even if it doesn't involve Michigan, it is always interesting to read things from an SEC point of view.

I for one am interested. It's fun to see what is going on throughout college football and recruiting. Thanks for this RDT. I hope you continue to do these in the future.

I would have thought that too but RDT made a post the other day about how he listened to Valenti and what a tool bag he thought he was.  I know that Valenti checks this site, and it wouldn't surprise me if he googles himself on a daily basis.  It just seems like it would make sense.  But then again, you're probably right.

I enjoy reading rational posts from non-Michigan fans with interesting information.  Ty Isaac is a must-get for Michigan this year.  Hopefully he will join the Maize and Blue shortly.

I can say with certainty that you are my favorite non Michigan poster on this board. Welcome. I dont know what your past is, or history or motives are, but I definitely like your contributions to this blog.

Additionally, and I am probably in the minority here, but I love the Alabama Football program. Don't love Saban, but I like 'Bama's history and tradition. Love their uniforms as well.

I've spent some time down in New Orleans and have driven through the state of Alabama on many occasions - always make it a point to stop in Tuscaloosa on the way down. Absolutely love the state of Alabama, driving through it is always fun - beautiful state. I actually stopped in Tuscaloosa during the Iron Bowl a few years ago on my way back to Michigan....GameDays don't seem as packed as they do in Ann Arbor, but that may have been because I drove through during the game, not before or after.

Keep it coming.....and hopefully we pound you come Labor Day weekend.

I feel the same way, Alabama is awesome to watch.  I love the way they play the game, offensivley and especially defensivley.  Not only are they big and talented but they play very fundamentally sound football and fly to the football.  I've said it before but I honestly think that Hoke, Mattison etc. are building something similar here.

RDT, it would also be awesome to get your thoughts on how Bama played Urban Meyer when he was down at Florida.

I say keep it coming. Nice to see a reasoned SEC fan around these parts. While most of us are not Saban fans (this stems back to his Sparty time) I do believe that UM fans have respect for Alabama.

Here in Houston I have run into a couple of Florida fans and they are horrific acting like they've been a powerhouse for 100 years etc. Drives me nuts. You are alright in my book, not that my book has any merit.
