Novak: SI All-Glue Team...again
Didn't see this posted.
Second year in a row. Now, I have no clue what honors come with being on an All-Glue Team, but congrats to ZN nonetheless.
"I looked at him [Zack Novak] and told him if I were going into an alley to fight, he would be the first guy I would grab."
I would also take him in a street fight.
The guy who memorized the first 60 decimal places of pi is the first guy you would want with you in an alley fight... Your friends must not exactly be MMA fighters.
JK. But really, Novak is a badass.
Well the idea here is to have Novak recite the first 60 digits of pi, buying them enough time to flee from the bowels of the alley.
They may have his FT percentage wrong. (40.5%)
Yep, definitely a mis-print. MGoBlue lists his FT% as 85.7% (42-49). I have no idea where they got 40.5 from. Maybe he averaged 40.5 made free throws per season through his first 3 years?
His overall FG% and 3-point percentage are also slightly off in the article. They probably used an outdated stat sheet for those two and then accidently typed in the (old) 3FG% for the FT figure.
looks like it's been corrected.
SI all-glue team, not ESPN
To make that point too. Still, thanks for sharing.
No love for Elmers, Gorilla Glue and Alteco Super Glue? Ridiculous. That's why I don't put any stock in these things.
He should receive a year's supply of Elmer's.
I enjoyed this quote: "He has total command of our locker room. On defense, sometimes he'll push people in the back and yell, 'Get over there!'"
I like that he takes command and yells at his teammates when necessary. During the PSU game on Sunday, there was a play where Smotryz allowed his man to drive right by him to the hoop for an easy lay-in. The TV mics picked up someone yelling something along the lines of, "Are you fucking kidding me, Evan?" I forget the exact quote, I just remember specifically that there was an F-Bomb and an "Evan" in there. They then showed a replay from a different angle and you could tell that it was Novak who said that.
Some may take that negatively as yelling at a teammate, but I'm a firm believer that you need guys like that on your team who speak up and say what needs to be said. I love that he called out Smotryz for his bad D on that play, and I will miss Novak's leadership next year.
Just jumping on you're point about leaders and yelling. It's a fine line when you yell at someone between legit criticism and just attacking them (a la Pat Knight). It's great to see that we have a team where unity isn't broken because a captain yelled at a player
But he seems to be stuck.
Glue players for college means a lot. Players like Novak do all the little things that help a team- glad to see it be recognized!
Novack makes my all-awesome team. really, it's just him.
think of a better name to an award than glue that equates to his playing ability. This just fits perfect to what he has done for this team the last 4 years.
Would like to see Stu on a list like this as well. Not as vocal, obviously, but still essential to our success the last season and a half
