Update on Amir Hekmati
A little while back, I posted about my old friend Amir Hekmati, who had been sentenced to death by the Iranian governement for espionage. I wanted to thank the MgoBlog community for all of your signatures on the petition to help save an innocent man's life.
Just a quick update on his status. The Iranian supreme court has canceled the death sentence for Amir, and it is trending in a positive diection for him. It appears that the international pressure to free him, and all of the petitions are working. Once again, thanks to everyone for their support, after talking to Amir's Dad, I know he appreciates it as well.

Thanks for the update. That's great news.
board rules are no politics, dude....

good to hear things are looking up.
The poster is thankful and giving an update from a previous post.
Politics aren't the problem.................asshat responses are.
I take the "no politics" rule to mean no posts about, say, whether you like Newt Gingrich or dislike lefty profs or whatever. This is an international news item, not so much a statement of political position.
This is awesome man! Very rewarding to see something I participated in might have saved a life. Best of luck to him!
But is it bad that I read the title and thought it might be a recruit I haven't heard of?
Maybe he can play receiver?
All jokes aside, this is great news.
Great news - better than info on a recruit. But, yeah, I'll admit I did the same thing as you.
They should have sent Nick Saban over. He'd have been back in a week, with Amir, and two developmental players to compete for the job at kicker.
I laughed for what it's worth. I didn't take it as an insult to the situation, I appreciated the humor of it.
That's great news! I didn't want to make light of anything relating to this but RollDamnTide, that was funny!
This really is great news, and I do apologize if my comment came off as making light of this situation. I'll keep him in my prayers, and I hope this continues to trend upward in his favor.
I must have missed the initial post about this. But holy fuck. Good news about the lessening of the sentence.
Great news...although I opened this thread expecting an update from Aqua on some DT prospect named Amir.
Despite that, I still thought this was gonna be an update on a recruit's top 5.
his most serious concern is a Michigan victory over Ohio.
