Molk goes off on Konz and Brewster

Submitted by Grahambino on

Didn't see this up here, and the title says it all, but a couple enjoyable tidbits from the ESPN/Ann Arbor News post:

In an interview with AnnArbor.com, the Rimington Trophy winner says it's "pretty stupid" to think any other center should be drafted ahead of him, including Wisconsin's Peter Konz and Ohio State's Mike Brewster.

Molk also doesn't believe that Ohio State's Brewster, a four-year starter and 2010 All-American, should be drafted higher than him.  "He is nowhere near me as a player," he said of Brewster.

Awesome.

Teams interviewing him may very well have told him what their order is on centers, and asked him to defend himself versus them. He was probably coached to be extremely self confident by his agent.

Also, you don't think for a moment that Barwis hasn't been in his ear during workouts. "You are the best. Konz and Brewster? You've been beating their asses for years. Go prove it."

hijacked this thread? Certainly Molk has earned the right on his own to be outspoken. Some of you that have never played a down of football think you can put people in their place that have proven themselves on the largest stage in college football. Keep your two cents in your change purse.

Pull your head out of your ass, look at my previous posts and consider how your post might look if you substituted any number of other terms for greyhair. If your imagination is limited, come back, I'm not very pc, I'll help you out.

Oh, and stay off my damned lawn!

Agreed.

If you haven't played football, you shouldn't voice your opinion!

Also, if you haven't been a politician, you shouldn't discuss politics.  And if you haven't been an actor, you shouldn't talk about movies.

These are great ideas.

I loved it.

Also, I wish there was video of the players meeting after the RichRod firing presser. That would be the greatest motivational video since "The Team, The Team, The Team."

David Molk shits gold, sometimes out of his mouth.

is that if Brewster was saying this stuff aboult Molk, the entire board would be calling him an ass and telling him to keep his mouth shut.

Those other guys have tangibles they could point to as reasons why they should be drafted higher than Molk, but if they started pointing that out, and talking about how the Rimington doesn't mean shit, we'd all be like "WHATEVA!  WHATEVA!!  You're just jealous!! (I do what I want!)"

We're biased, fine, given; but a little intellectual honesty wouldn't hurt us.

I'm not sure what I think about this.  I'm a big Molk fan, but this is a little out of character.  I don't think he needs to say things like this.  On the other hand, he is very confident.

Molk is a different bird.  I support him.

I hope he goes high in the draft and gets a nice payday.

I don't know any NFL execs, but this is a smidge beyond brash and into untactful/ungracious territory, particularly in using specific names.
