OT: Tigers

what a win. I have to admit, when they went down 5-0 I didn't think they could come back. But man, Mr. Thomas walk off to deeeeep center.

Every time I think that Clete Thomas needs to shorten his swing and stop trying to be a home run hitter, he does something like this... Damn. He does need to shorten that swing a bit still, but I will take it tonite!

I think it's completely understandable that you were feeling "chicken". I was too. The Tigers have rarely been able to dig themselves out of a hole of any depth (and 5 runs is certainly deep enough). I had no faith that we could generate enough offense to overcome 5 runs plus whatever else they put. Thankfully I was wrong.

is a machine. How many pitchers in baseball would have made it through 8 innings after throwing 25 in the first while giving up five runs on six hits? Simply amazing. Also, Clete has quickly become one of my favorites. Very good defender too.

Verlander, very very good indeed. I'm just sad he didn't get the win for tonight. He deserved it. Also, who would've thought old Marcus Thames still had some good fielding left in him?

Big W, especially considering losing to the Orioles is a big no-no. I'm excited to see Washburn take the mound tomorrow - it will be nice to have a lefty who's (knock on wood) reliably solid!

are actually pretty good with some good young hitters like Luke Scott, Nick Marakais(sp?), Matt Weiters, etc. They don't have the pitching to be a true playoff contender. That should change in a few years once they have the top pitching prospects get called up from the minor league. I believe 3 of them are among the top 25 overall prospects in the MLB.
