BREAKING: Rivals100 LB Mike McCray of Ohio has scheduled an announcement for his college selection bit.ly/wzVLwa

Just as a side note, McCray has a visit to Michigan scheduled for 3/6. That's usually a good sign when a recruit visits right before his decision.

For whatever reason, OSU has yet to offer.

When i was much younger i had an insanely good looking friend who could get any chick he wanted wherever we went.  We called him "Rico Sauve" and even strippers tried to pick him up if we hit one of those establishments.  My strategy was to wait until he got whoever he wanted then the leftovers, and there were lots to choose from, were just happy to have somebody paying attention to them and i did (almost) as well as he did.  The trick for me at least was knowing my place (second prize) and acting accordingly.

Anyways I was thinking the other day that when it comes to recruiting Hoke is kinda like my old friend Rico and Urban Meyer is playing my role.  He's basically letting Hoke get whatever he wants and then will swoop in on the leftovers and give them some pity-love.

Well, that and the fact that Hoke has been recruting and looking at tape for an extra year. Hoke et al know the players and coaches and have been watching them for at least 12 months. Oh, and Meyer runs a different system with coaches he hasn't worked with yet.

Other than that, yeah great example. Way to compare recruiting to all the chicks you've banged. Not creepy at all!

the ending to your story, you fell in love with one of those "leftovers" and are happily married and have beautiful children, While Rico played out his good looks until there inevitable demise and is also ethier alone still trying to live out his glory days, or unhappily married to a chick who he doesn't love and can't stand to look at. Ballpark?

I think LaQuon Treadwell will commit after him.  I know he has said he has no time table but kids change their minds, especially when they see others committing and the class starting to fill up.

Ohio is simply taking a strategy of offering their 'national' recruits before good state players.  I think we are seeing that with McCray and others.

I wonder what chance we have, with him committing the week after he visits us.  No idea what this means.

I hope this is true, or at least plays out enough to become an established meme in the Ohio coaching community.  This is the exact opposite of what Hoke and staff are doing, and it would piss off the Ohio high school coaches to no end.

Mgobluegr talked with Mike less than a week ago. His interest in Michigan is definitely ramping up and the fact he's announcing two days after his visit bodes well for their chances.

Last I had heard is that he was really leaning towards Tennessee. I know he saw the writing on the wall and came away disappointed at Ohio's junior day when they did not offer him because he grew up wanting to play there (his father did play there as well). I can really see him growing into a defensive end, he has a lot of room to grow.

If we take only two linebackers, I'd be very happy with two of Leavenberry, McCray, Gedeon or O'Daniel.  Leavenberry is my favorite, not sure who number two is, but any of those three would be great.  Anzalone is intriging, but I don't know much about him.

I keep thinking "okay, well this class can't get much better than this..there has to be some sort of slow down here." And then, out of the blue comes another "4 star linebacker named Derp is visiting Michigan and Michigan is in his top three."

Quite simply, recruiting makes me giddy.

I don't trust this situation...at all....  it sounds a little fishy.   Lets hope its only due to paranoia, but I wouldn't put it past the Ohio "family" to pull something like this, having a silent offer only to leave egg on M's face.

Yea I would have to believe the Coaches would know this kind of situation with him, IF he committed they would probably talk it over with him to make sure that isnt his inttentions because if it is, I wouldnt be surprised to see them deny his commitment if he only wants to do it to get a offer from OSU.

forcing Ohio's hand and setting his date two days after his visit to U of M? Maybe thinking he can get an offer from Ohio so they just don't lose him to us without trying? All I ever heard he is open to Michigan, but he would follow his fathers footsteps and goto Ohio.

Is it paranoid to think that McCray may possibly commit to Ohio on March 8, and that he and Ohio played it coy, to leave egg on our face?  I hope this isn't the case, however, something seems a little off here.
