I'm not the only one up this late. However, I hope we all wait to player critique him and hope he does not have Twitter (Kidding). I'm not going to lie, I didn't watch the FULL Youtube video, but uhh, from what I saw it doesn't even look fair. Is he on a team of 8th graders?!

Also - yes, he's like a man among children. If Henry Poggi doesn't work out - he's the kid I want. But will be tough to pull from the SEC IMO

Definitely a tough pull. I like our shot with Poggi, but it's good to try to get in with another great DT. I'm still wondering how great Darius Latham is at DT and if he has a preference. Latham seems like a realistic option, from what I've heard.

This video is almost comical - every play this kid is 5 yards into the backfield almost instantly. Hoke and Mattison are gifted, but it's tough to see him making it past the Mason-Dixon line.

It's clear he's playing against much smaller and less talented O-lineman, but dang that's a lot of quickness for such a big guy. There were a number of times when he was almost in time to disrupt the handoff.
I'll take him, though I don't like our chances, unless he wants to go to our B-school or be an engineer or something. Otherwise, SEC or FSU seems much more likely.

Usually in these highlight tapes, there's an arrow pointing out which player they're highlighting. However, all you have to do is look for the man that is double the size of everyone else and ends the play laying on top of the boy with the ball.

the plays were he steamrolls some poor kid i understand, but the plays where the opposing coaches/players leave him unblocked? i'm no high school coach, but i'd think you'd want a couple hats on that kid every play.
anyway, does anyone know if there's a good poggi highlight film out there. a quick youtube search didn't pull up anything (but then i am terrible at internet and computer).

That is hilarious stuff, truly a man amongst boys. Unfortunately I see some serious flaws in his game. For the most part Montravious did a poor job taking on blocks, he often completely skipped this step, rampaged into the backfield and annihilated some poor fool. Take on the blocks son; it's the best policy.

but recruiting a state like Georgia for B10 is tough sledding. Having lived in the Atlanta area for several years, and reading local press and listinging to recruiting shows on the radio, there's just very little talk or buzz about programs outside the SEC or schools like FSU and Miami.
You look at Georgia HS players from last 4-5 years, 95% stay in the region. The top players look at UGA and other top tier SEC schools, particlarly programs in border states like Florida, SC, Alabama and Tennesee. There are a couple exceptions with guys lgoing to ND and Southern Cal, but I wonder how much effort B10 coaches put into top kids from this area and other sun belt states. Return on time investment seems like it would be very low.

South Georgia, where Vienna is located, is very fertile recruiting ground for FSU. My guess is he either ends up a Bulldog or a Nole. But the fact that we've already filled half our class means that we can spend some time recruting long-shot elite prospects.

I've been wondering about that - is that considered one of the major advantages to getting kids to commit early (besides locking down 4-star talent of course)? So the coaches can try and go for home run recruits for the remaining year or so?
Clearly this a Michigancentric question, since I have to imagine places like USC or Texas or FSU don't worry as much with a wealth of talent within walking distance to campus.

Wow, that kid is a beast. I know it's an uphill battle trying to pull a kid from the south, but it's not unheard of...and if we can just get him on campus for a visit, ANYTHING is possible. Go BLUE, Montravius! You could have 3 D-Line coaches if you come to Michigan!
