ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 2012 University of Michigan Spring Football Weekend promises to be an action-packed two days (April 14-15) of athletic competition for sports fans of all kinds. The 2012 Mott Spring Football Scrimmage sponsored by PNC Bank anchors the weekend festivities along with the inaugural men's lacrosse match-up with Ohio State immediately following the football scrimmage.
Team 133 will take the field for its annual spring scrimmage at noon EST on Saturday, April 14. Prior to the football team's debut, the Victors Classic Alumni Flag Football Game will be held at 10 a.m. inside the Big House.
Following the football scrimmage at 2:30 p.m. will be the "Battle in the Big House," which pits Michigan's first-year varsity men's lacrosse team against Ohio State.
Admission to all of the events Saturday at Michigan Stadium is free to the public. Fans can make a donation of choice to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital upon entering the gates of Michigan Stadium.
Both the spring football scrimmage and the lacrosse game with Ohio State will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. In between the action, the BTN will conduct interviews with players and head football coach Brady Hoke.
Also on Saturday, the women's rowing team will host a dual against Oregon State at 9 a.m. on Belleville Lake and the men's tennis team will hit the Varsity Tennis Center courts against Nebraska at noon.
The following day, Sunday, April 15, brings the Big House Big Heart charity run to Michigan Stadium. The event includes a 10K race, a 5K race and a one-mile race to raise funds for a variety of charities. Racing starts at 9 a.m. from the Big House and ends at the 50-yard line. Further information is available at www.thebighousebigheart.com.
Also on Sunday, the Michigan men's tennis program will entertain Iowa at noon at the Varsity Tennis Center and the Michigan softball team will host a 1 p.m. doubleheader against rival Michigan State at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field.
Can't wait!

The spring game will be my last chance to get denarded as a student. :(

"The 2012 Mott Spring Football Scrimmage sponsored by PNC Bank"
Is corporate sponsorship of the Spring Game a new thing?

I'm sure there will be a fancy logo like last season. They know that the suckers (like me) will buy a t-shirt that says 2012 Spring Game on it like I did last time.

There is an awesome line up of two days worth of michigan sports that literally covers almost any interest and this is what you picked out from this?

With every successful monetization in the Big House in particular and the athletic department in general, the snowball grows larger and gains more momemtum in its roll down Mount Brandon.

Great idea putting the lacrosse game immediately after the spring game, seems like a good way to draw in people that normally don't care about lacrosse. I'm looking forward to seeing how lacrosse does as a varsity sport here.
Also, they should suit Denard up for the game and see what happens.

So the football field is 120 x 53.3 yards and a regulation lacrosse field is 110 x 60 yards. 6.7 yards short on the width, you'd think they could just cut into each sideline 3.35 yards (MATH SKILLZZZ) but there really isn't much room on the sidelines to cut into, see picture below. Maybe they just have the teams move their sidelines to the endzones?
I guess what I am asking is that if it is not a regulation size lacrosse field, will it just be an exhibition game? Or will the game actually count?
Note: On the schedule the game is not marked with an "ex" marker. So I guess there is your answer.

All games count now.

Syracuse has limited space in its domed football stadium, but they manage to play lacrosse in there without a problem. I'm sure Michigan will manage just fine.

Most high school teams and some college teams play in stadiums with small sidelines and they have no problem with the sidelines. In lax there is not a huge team on the sidelines like in football, plus a lot of the time the team is lined up with warm-ups taking place behind the bench. Michigan Stadium sideines are plenty big for lax games.

Now I'm just more frustrated that I'll have to miss this to be at Relay for Life. Poor scheduling form University, poor form indeed.

... I've gotta find a reason to be in Ann Arbor that weekend.

I am so excited for this weekend. Lacrosse is playing all of their home games except one in the stadium this year, but obviously the Ohio State game, especially in conjuction with the spring game, has had lacrosse alumni like yours truly buzzing for months.

So this is Brandon following Gene Smith?
OSU has been doing this for the last few years.

If he were following Gene Smith, the article would have mentioned free tattoos after the scrimmage.

Sounds like a great weekend. Maybe this year I'll take the plunge and actually do the race.

Any thoughts on whether it's worth going to the Equpment Sale?
I recall a post on this, but couldn't find it in the search.
