Too soon, man.  Too soon.

Edit: I'm getting negged for confronting someone's ill-timed comment/joke about someone's death?  Really?  Can some of you be that immature?  Ok, that's fine, just neg away and I'll remember to stay away from this site during times when we should all be thinking about something bigger than Michigan sports or getting a cheap laugh.  RIP Whitney Houston, and I'll see all of you MGoBloggers tomorrow.

Definitely uncalled for on the day she dies. I mean, I'm not sure it's ever okay to make fun of death. I'm not going to get into that.

But someone just lost a loved one. I'm not even talking about her amazing voice, her fans, etc. Just from a family standpoint. I believe she has a daughter...

R.I.P. Whitney Houston.

Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Anita Baker...and my list stops there in terms of amazing voices of R&B.

I'm sure a lot of people had her in their "dead pools," and she likely contributed greatly to her own demise, but her loss is still a tragedy, and it isn't funny.  No matter what you think of her, her lifestyle, or her music, she did have a lot of talent, and it's sad to lose her at 48.

Agreed. I'm laughing pretty hard at that joke.

Some people feel all death needs to be met with hand-wringing and displays of solemness, so that explains the reaction of a few posters.

If you actively do drugs on a level that's only rivaled by charicatures in movies, you should expect people to make jokes about about it when you end up dying from them. Maybe that's just me.

It's not only about her...

But also her daughter.

I understand everyone deals with this stuff different, and I'm definitely not trying to get into that on MGoBlog.com of all places.

I'm just saying, I'd err on the side of caution for the family. Sure we can talk about Whitney's issues...but making fun of her IMO could be extremely offensive to those who truly cared for, loved, and tried to help the woman.

Is Whitney's daughter going to know that someone on MGoBlog is making fun of his mother's death? Probably not. Would she care if she did know? IMO, that's not for me to speculate on.

If it were me personally, I'd be very upset/offended if people made fun of my mother's death...drugs or perfect angel.

So that's all I was saying, maybe the day of the death might not be the time (and again, I don't know when is - if ever)...but just spewing my thoughts. I respect everyone's opinion. This isn't the place to argue death, politics, etc. But sometimes it's interesting to see how people think. In a weird way I think it's pretty cool that some people get truly offended and others are like "F-it! I hope my family laughs and cracks jokes when I go!" The differences in people make this world pretty damn special.

I was just saying that to someone here - it was the Giants-Bills Super Bowl in Tampa - the best Super Bowl National Anthem rendition ever.

Whatever her problems, and they were obviously serious, this is a very significant passing.  To put it in perspective for those maybe too young enough to know, she was as big a star as there was in the early 90s, especially as an African-American woman.

She was one of the few that transcended the race and genre boundaries. So sad to see someone go from music royalty to this. RIP indeed. This still gives me the chills.

While I feel sympathetic for her family and friends, I don't at all for sympathetic for someone who has had drug addictions for years, and with her money she could afford to get help, not like others who are caught in the vicous cycle. I really don't believe this is blog worthy at all, leave it to the facebooks, twitters, and TMZ's of the world.

Blog worthy or not addiction is an illness. And just like any other illness, it varies in its degree of severity and sometimes paying for even the best treatment doesn't guarantee a recovery. Addiction is one of those mental illnesses that is very hard to understand and often sympathize over when seeing it and/or hearing about it from an outside perspective. RIP Whitney.

And you took time and effort to reply. I don't get these elitist posters who feel the need to criticize threads they're not interested in. Don't click on a topic that doesnt interest you, and if you find yourself disinterested after a click..click back out of it. Fairly simple.

As for this topic, people typically vent when stuff like this happens..get off your high horse.

RIP Whitney. Damn sad when it turns out this way...and sad for her daughter.

She was tragic in every sense of the word. She was beautiful and had that ridiculous voice, and she becaume world-famous for it. And despite all that, she had a train-wreck of a personal life. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to have achieved so much and to fall so far.

I think it's even sadder than Amy Winehouse's passing.

It's hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but "The Greatest Love of All" is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it's not too late to better ourselves. Since, Elizabeth, it's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It's an important message, crucial really. And it's beautifully stated on the album.

Should be interesting in the least to see what the biggest music awards show does for this. A day before the actual show.

Call up Mariah, Alicia Keys and Adele and pray they can pull something off by tomorrow night.
