My wish list for 2013 class

Submitted by Philbert on

Now that the 2013 recruiting cycle is now in full swing I thought it would be fun to create a best guess/ wish list for 2013. I have bee gathering information from all of Aces and Aquamans articles, Toms stuff over at ESPN, and Sam Webbs recruiting round up. Everyone here seems to think we will have about 20-22 spots open in this years class and I think that will be a safe bet. Lets get this started.

1) Quarterback - Shane Morris (check)

2) Running Back- Wyatt Shallman

3) Running Back -Ty Issac

4) Big Wide Reciever- Juron Dukes

5) Big Wide Reciever- Laquon Treadwell

6) Playmaking Wide Reciever - maybe a guy like Robert Foster or James Quick, I think Shane will be able to help reel one of these guys in.

7) Recieving Tight End- Khalid Hill (check)

8) Balanced Tight End- Jake Butt

9) Tackle- Logan Tulley-Tillman

10) Tackle- Hunter Bivin

11) Tackle/Guard- Kyle Bosch

12) Gaurd- Ethan Pocic

13) Guard/Center- Chris Fox

14) Defensive end- Taco Charlton

15) Defensive end- Tashawn Bower

16) DT- Henry Poggi

17) LB- EJ lavenberry

18) LB- Ben Gedeon

19) CB- Jourdan Lewis

20) CB- TIm Harris

21) Safety- Dymonte Thomas (check)

22) Safety- Su'a Cravens

This what I ended up coming up with when looking at what I have read and listened to. I'm not going to lie and say i'm confident in this list mainly cause I have no clue on a few things like oline. I just took names that I have seen a lot and have high interest. I do think the staff will go with a big playmaking wr eventually and having Shane will help a ton. There are guys on the list that like Michigan but personally think they will go somewhere else ( Poggi, Lavenberry and Su'a Cravens to be exact) but I do think Michigan has a chance.

Please feel free to pick apart my list and make one of your own if you want. I would like to thank Ace and Aquaman for all the hard work they have been doing. Also Magnus and his input is always a great read.

EDIT: I feel like I should throw this in here that I don't expect this list to hold up. Heck when I was making it the first time around a work yesterday I had Shaq Wiggins on there and that got shot down last night.

lavenberry has seems to really like the south from my understanding. Poggi is had a lot of early interest but not sure if its still there. Cravens has interest but I think it will be a hard pull from the west. I kind of see him like a Shaq Thompson. I should throw Tim Harris. Really caught a Ohio vibe for some reason. It's a long way til national signing day and were bound to miss on a lot of these guys but it should be a good class.

I guess its just more of a gut feeling that lavenberry won't end up here so no I shouldn't say "sure" but I just get a strong vibe he will reside somewhere in the state of Florida for the next four years. Poggi does have Bama as his top and I think Michigan is in it. To be honest, beating Bama out for a recruit that is so high profile seems like a really tall task. yeah someone will go but you think LTT is going blue. Yes I do based on the fact he really likes it here, Its driveable from Ill, and he grew up a Michigan fan. I don't feel that same love when I read poggi articles but I do think the coaches go hard on him. Someone threw out the poet from detroit and I think he might be the DT answer now that I have had sometime to think about it.

There's such a big difference between a "best guess list" and a "wish list."  This is a wish list more than a best guess list, because we've only offered about 80 kids so far, which is only about 40% of the offers that will probably go out by next February.

This looks like a pretty good wish list, but unfortunately, it's probably not realistic.

Coincidentally, I've already drafted a wish list for 2013 that will be posted tomorrow morning on TTB.  You beat me to the punch...jerk.

We have 7 of the same guys.  I have 3 defensive linemen and 3 defensive backs.

I don't think I said that Michigan might take 3 tight ends.  It's possible if the class expands from its current number, but anything's possible if that happens.  We might take three safeties, too, if a couple guys get hurt or transfer, so talking about hypotheticals just kind of puts me in a bind when predicting things like this.  Right now I would expect two tight ends - Khalid Hill and one other guy.

That would be one of the best classes in recruiting history.  and now that i've seen them all on one list, you ruined my dreams of having them all.

realisitcally half those guys will end up elsewhere.  they always do.

Cravens and Treadwell seem tough to get.  Everyone thinks Treadwell will be Blue someday but I have small doubts.  The best thing we have going for us in this class is the early commitment from Morris.  He needs to recruit guys like Issaic, Shallman, and Treadwell.  Mattison can take care of guys like Lavenberry and Cravens.  Both of whom I would really like to have and could see contributing very early.

You did pretty well of summing up my wishlist though.  Except add Kendall Fuller.

I feel like Fuller is VT bound but maybe Maryland jumps into the picture with Diggs and Wes Brown there. Treadwell will be on campus this weekend and hopefully he remembers why he loved it so much  a few months ago. I just think having shane actively recruitng for us could make some really big ins on WR front.

where someone makes a slightly humorous post containing "I thought he died in 97, and INXS sucked anyway" ?

Which eventually morphs into a 200+ post thread about 80 bands, and forbidden topics like Reaganomics®?

count me in.

I see Michigan ending up with about 6-7 of the Top 100. It's one of those years, that the Top 100 fits need and style for Michigan. This could be a banner year for Michigan, and they have gotten in and lead early for so many of these kids.

as a wish list yes I agree with those but I tried to be mildly realistic. Butt seems like a really good contender to fill the other TE spot. Brenneman commented on twitter about not being sure he will visit AA at all so excitment level went down. I think Michigan will get either Smith or Issac and just looking at manball, I love Issac for that spot. To be honest, Harris was somebody I looked at and said this kid fits a Mattison corner. No knowledge at all on talent level or interest but looking at him just makes me want him in a winged helmet.6'2" corner with good hips.. YES PLEASE!

Yeah, I think we're going to get Butt too, closing the TE class. I hope we get Isaac or Smith. I like Smith better, even though Isaac is ranked much higher. In Isaac's highlights, I haven't really seen him touched or run through tackles. I've seen that from Smith. I hear he lacks elite speed though, so that's a concern.

I'm worried about all the GC guys staying at Maryland now that Diggs and Brown are staying. I'd like to land Fuller and O'Daniel. I'm not that concerned about CB especially if we get Lewis. We'll get someone good. I am worried about LB though. I think Kalambayi might end up at Clemson. I think Hutchings stays west and I think Gedeon might go to Ohio. Levenberry seems like the guy we need to make a stronger play with. I'd love to snag O'Daniel as well.

I like to look at classes in 2 or 3 year chunks. The 12 class and 11 class combined or the 12 and 13 classes combined. Maybe even a class and the ones before and after it combined. As long as any holes left in the 12 class get filled this year it's all good.

I saw Issac play in the Illinois 5A state title game and he is a beast. He rushed for over 500 yards in the game and just looked like a man amongst boys even though Joliet Catholic lost to Montini (high school where Jordan Westerkamp who is going to Nebraska and Jelani Jenkins who is going to Iowa are from)...I am hoping we take 3 receivers. Treadwell, Dukes and any other highly rated receiver would be nice especially since we have offered so many. Getting Foster would be awesome but idk how realistic that is. On defense I really hope we get Levanberry, Taco Charolton and Jourdan Lewis. Lewis is important I think to keep the Cass Tech pipeline going....I do have a question about Levanberry. I know we are in his top 3 but how realistic is it that we actually land him? Just don't want to get my hopes up too high.

I like all the players previously mentioned.

I like Ty Isaac's film, but if its not him them let it be someone else.  I just want a big d*ck swing around running back who is fast as balls and has the moves.

We are Michigan, we are back, and I can't believe that a 5-star rb wouldn't jump at the chance to come in with this next class, take over after Fitz is gone.  I thought it would happen with this current class, it didn't, so its imperative we get a great rb in this next group.
