Michigan 2012 Recruiting class iPad app

Submitted by Dizzo on

Just to let any iPad users know, my first (free) iPad app was approved today and posted to the App Store.  It's a pretty simple app, but aggregates a lot of the free data available on the web specifically for the 2012 football recruits.

It's called "tsRecruiting" (Tremendous Software - Recruiting) and I hope to release other apps under the "ts" tag in the future.

I'll be updating the content regularly as I find new videos/articles, etc.  Eventually I'll put out a 2013 version too, but want to see feedback on this one first before adding in some of the new features I am working on.

Any plans for one for DROID? And it may be more user friendly to just allow you to choose year rather than needing to have separate apps. Just a thought.

I don't have any Android devices to test on though, so just went for iPad since I have one.

Definitely going to do a single app w/ selecting the year for the next revision.  Don't want to have multiple downloads as you point out.  Being my first app, I didn't know how much Apple looked at stuff, so I wanted to get through one complete publish process before adding too many features.  They actually rejected my first version because I used a background image that contained the Big House and a block M was visible.  Since I couldn't provide documentation that I had the rights to display the trademarked logo, they rejected it and I had to go back and use a generic football field instead.

All the content is web-based, so now that it's actually in the App Store, I'll be adding a bunch more content.

2013 recruits, more complete highlight videos, interviews, articles, etc.  I tried to get at least one highlight reel for everyone (couldn't find anything for Jeremy Clark) before submitting, and now I'll be scanning for more complete stuff.  I have some other features planned too for the next release when I add in the 2013 class where it's prospects for the most part instead of commits.

Planning an iPhone version, but haven't figured out how to display the content on the small screen.  I don't think what I did for the iPad would work directly on the iPhone, it would need to be a difference use case, but I do have a couple thoughts for tracking 2013 prospects, interest levels, and other updates.

drop me a line (google it) .  I could help.

One thing you could do is download the html, change the stylesheet to your own, mobile friendly version.  Haven't looked at the app, but I could certainly give you some ideas.
