meta: iPhone/Android apps down
I am currently moving the module that allows the smartphone apps to plug into drupal to its most current version. There is no upgrade path and the changes are significant so the apps may be down anywhere from a couple days to a week. Apologies for any inconvenience.

I'm thankful that it wasn't last week that the apps were down. I guess I'll have to work a little more next week.

Glad to know it's not just my phone that keeps crashing. Thanks for the update, Brian.

While you're in there smashing things, please fix the loophole that allows users with less than 100 points to post new threads.

According to my mother, who has been a professor of English for 40 years, "less than" is perfectly correct and equivalent to using "fewer". However, feel free to use your extra year of experience as a tie-breaker.

I seem to remember someone telling me that it has become acceptable to interchange "less than X" and "fewer than X." HOWEVA, you still have to say "100 fewer apples," while "100 less apples" is incorrect.

That is something that will roll out with the next version of both apps.

What am I supposed to do on the toilet at work now?

Masturbation is the obvious answer here.

This is one of those scenarios in which avatar and comment align beautifully.

I thought the app crashed, so I deleted it and tried to re-install it from the App Store, but it's not available there anymore. I imagine it will be available again when it's updated?

I pulled it, but I'll put it back once the app is fixed. Didn't want people to download it and get pissed.
In the meantime, this gives me an opportunity to fix all the things that happen when the mgoblog servers are down.

Any possibility of allowing all (or a selected portion) the blog's content to load when you open the app, like the NYTimes app does with their content? I read on the subway and don't have phone reception there.

I've heard the request before... it won't happen right away, but I can think about it.
I'd have to "cache" some stories and implement an "offline" mode.
This sounds like a lot of work.
