The system has a mild civilizing effect. It used to be even better; in the past, people's upvotes added points and downvotes subtracted points, so the board could be a lot more self-regulating. It also led to some brilliant negbangs. Now, the duty of de-pointifying falls on the shoulders of the poor mods.

I don't know why voting hasn't been fixed yet. It appears to have popular support. It must be a technical hangup.
Civ pro was one of my favorite classes (admin law too); I've always been agnostic as to subtantive issues. Maybe it's that John Dingell quote. Which explains my interest in procedural/meta issues, such as regulating opinions here.
I know nothing about website maintenance, etc... But I think you should use whatever power you have to get this moderating problem fixed. It's in your own interest to do so, as you noted.

I think it is Bolivian, not Bolivia, because someone's auto check changed 'Oblivion' to 'Bolivian' and it stuck. as in "...sent to Bolivian..."
...and I haven't said it yet, but glad to have you on MGoBlog, RollDamnTide. You seem like good people. I learned to be a Michigan fan from my Dad, whose OTHER favorite team has always bean Alabama. So I inherited Bama as a default favorite SEC team.
