Les has some balls on and off the field:

So, Les, why would you offer him a scholarship and then accept his verbal committment?

I bet Mike Gundy has something he'd like to say to Les Miles for talking like that about a kid.

If anyone said that about someone who pulled a Terrelle Pryor on Michigan, most people here would think it was great. Kiel was 11 on a scale of 10 as a diva during the recruiting process. He committed to three different schools. MIles didn't show much class, but I can certainly see his point.
Besides, Miles has been called "the Rainman," which was politically corrected to "The Hat." Is anyone really surprised about this?

I think we should have another post to discuss divas. My opinion remains the same. After the second public exhibition, let them go anywhere else.

It's one thing for some random person to say it. It's far different for the head coach to say it. If Hoke ever acted like this, I would hope the Michigan fanbase would not cheer him on.

If some other coach called Mike Hart "short"....

Yeah, I don't think that Kiel handled his recruitment process very well, but he's still an 18 year old kid trying to make the toughest decision of his life-- it's not a surprise that it might not have gone well. Miles should know better. He's trying to score cheap points with alums at a kid's expense. Not cool.

That's somewhat classless by Miles. I can't help but hope that LSU schedules Notre Dame at some point in the next four years and Kiel can pull an upset against the Tigers. I fully believe that a head coach should ignore comments/actions of 18-year-old kids who play for other programs, at least in a public forum.

What a dick. To paraphrase Mike Gundy, attack men who are 40, not 18 year old kids. And it's hilarious that he's on his high horse about a kid they themselves stole from a less prestigious program... what's good for the goose and so forth. God, I'm glad he didn't come to UM either in 2007 or 2011

you said he stole Kiel from a less prestigious program.....I did not know he had committed to Sparty.

+1 for referencing Mike Gundy. Why do I care? I don't know, but I think that it's cool that when I see his name "I'm a man! I'm 40!" isn't the only thing that comes to my head but also he's a damn good football coach (whose team got screwed out of playing for the NC, but that's a whole other discussion).

Maybe he wanted to keep his scholie even if he broke his leg.

If Michigan had hired him, and if he'd done well here, it would be a different story; many of us would be Les Miles apologists. If Michigan had hired him, and he'd done badly, he'd be a less charming version of RR, and we'd wish him a nice career elsewhere.
Michigan didn't hire him, but he's another alum who's done well on the big stage, so I wish him well.

What an idiot, Les. You stole Gunner from Indiana before ND stole him from you.

It's got to be tough to go from the coach of the greatest football team ever known to mankind, to the coach of one of the poorest prepared teams in bowl history, to the coach of what, the sixth ranked team in SEC recruiting? Top of the world to competing with the likes of Tennesee in a month's time--no wonder he's losing it.
