OT: Dantonio says MSU got top player in MI

Submitted by JNQ_GOBLUE_79 on

Today at his press conference, Dantonio apparently made the statement that, "For the third straight year, Michigan State gets the preceived top player by the media in the state of Michigan."

He was referring to Burbridge:

Apparently #5 is the new #1 !!!

i ain't going to say much about dantonio. until we snap that 4 game win streak they have on us. regardless if it was our worst 3 years of football.

My disrespect for Dantonio is growing.  What a brat.  If it were true, Burbridge being the best in the state would be something to be QUIETLY proud of.  Because of his posistion, that is an incredible disrespectful thing to lay out for all these kids that have worked so hard for their Schollies.

That little dick reminds me of Willie Olsen (Little House on the Prairie)  "You guys got a lot of players but we got the best, nah, nah, nah ,nah."

A guy don't get negged for a Little House Reference does he???

And one that I would find a little comforting if I were Michigan State actually. They finished reasonably strong as well, with Cox/Madaris.

While it is debateable, Burdbridge has been touted by several outlets (including our own MGoBlog analysts) as the best player in the State.

Having said that, I would much rather have our own in state haul than theirs.

Additionally, I find it funny on the RCMB (yes, I know..) that they are minimalizing their in state haul this year by saying (yes, this is true) that this was a particularly weak year in the state of Michigan talent wise.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't I read exactly the opposite? Isn't this a particularly STRONG year in talent for the State of Michigan (and Ohio as well)? I can recall reading this several places, even prior to the start of the recruiting season...and I can't recall a time when the state of MI having so many players go to top line BCS schools.

Am I wrong?

You've got to hand it to the guy, he knows his fan base will eat that up. He'll try anything to advertise the program as a heavy hitter in recruiting...even if the emporer has no clothes.

That's the difference between Hoke and Dantonio.  Hoke would never brag about one recruit over another, especially when they will be teammates.  How does that make the rest of the recruits from the state of MI that are now at MSU feel?  This guy just can't get out of his own way.

And I do not care if it's flame bait. Dantonio is whiny, spoiled brat in a 50 year old body. Who else did State pick up? Oh that's right...

Michigan wiped the floor with this moron in recruiting the state of Michigan.

Nobody gives two shits what he thinks. I'm getting annoyed with how many threads about these fools have been posted recently.

Not only did he get the #1 recruit in the State, but through his magnetic personality, he was able to snakeoil about half a dozen guys from the MAC.  Although, his charm wasn't flawless:  despite MSU offers, 4 guys decided the MAC was more appealing (3 committed to CMU, and 1 to Toledo).

Here's what we're gonna do Mark.  You're gonna suck it and we're gonna take our recruits and start thumping your skull.

a minute Mork.  Isn't it true that Burbridge wanted to attend Michigan, but was having trouble getting his poop in a group with his acedemic eligibility?  Isn't it true that he still might have trouble being academically eligible even at MSU?  NCAA eligibility rules apply to all schools.

The Hello: Norfleet post is still on the front page, and you regurgitate this myth?

I know why it's so upsetting to you, though. Recruiting is all you guys have left. Hence the hilarious statements like "Michigan mopped the floor with Douchetonio in recruiting!". Honestly, step back and read what some of you are saying; it's like a parody.

Michigan pounds Michigan State (in Rivals recruiting rankings)!

Little Brother submits (in in-state recruiting)!

Michigan is back (to the top of the recruiting rankings)!

Because you can't get it done on the field, you're talking up recruiting like it's worth just as much as the actual on-field results. And I, for one, find that hilarious.

Dantonio was all over the State and kicked our asses.

He picked up #1 Burbridge

Tennessee picked up #6 in O'Brien

and all we managed was

#2 Ross

#3 Richardson

#4 Norfleet

#5 RJS

#7 Godin

#8 Funchess

#9 Ojemudia

#10 Braden

Which would have been fine if we hadn't picked up

#2 Bolden

#3 Kalis &

#4 Wormley in Ohio

God he's good

Truth is, recruiting is about getting good athletes, and also about filling needs. He needed skill players and got some good ones. We needed depth and talent on the lines and we got 'em, as well as some skill players. How players are rated in college matters not one bit. We've got a great class, and as far as what Dantonio says, I don't really care. In fact, why did I even click on this thread--oh, yeah, I'm OC.

He's clearly just pandering to his  fan base.  Personally, I find it quite entertaining.  The slow destruction of such an egotistical moron will be very fun to watch

Whether he actually is the best player in the state is debatable. He failed to qualify academically to come to Michigan anyway. If he did qualify, he'd probably be a Wolverine.
