Ohio hate thread (NSD Edition)

Submitted by jonvalk on
I see a ton of vitriol on the boards today with regard to Meyer and Ohio as they close out an impressive class, surprising considering the embarrassment of a 2011 Ohio "suffered." I just thought I'd funnel that all into one thread to bottle up frustration and disgust from my fellow mgbloggers in one thread instead of mingling through the recruiting threads. So let's get it all out! Voice your disgust, tell your stories and remember why our coach doesn't wear red.

Here's my disgust for the day:

I live in Columbus and was just reminded how much I HATE living here when I passed a guy wearing a shirt that said the following:

"Rub my nuts"

"for good luck"

The gentleman was leaving the local Walmart bank and was missing a few teeth (no joke). It just reminded me how much I'd become conditioned to accept stupidity as part of a football culture. That being said, let's bottle it all up in here, get the hatred out, and then go kick ass on the boards in a classy fashion.

If a Michigan fan, after being pulled over by Ohio cops (for having the "wrong" license plates), dodging beer cans thrown at his head and being physically threatened to and from Ohio Stadium*, concludes that OSU is an objectionable place, that's not born out of ignorance.

First of all the classes are pretty similar between Michigan and Ohio it's not like they're dramatically better.  Second of all Meyer struggled with more talent than Ohio has amassed this year while in Florida and went 7-5 when Tebow left.

no joke its hoke

Fuck is this a Michigan blog or a Ohio blog?? Are you shocked Ohio signed a good class?? Drop it for fuck sake. I'm sick of seeing every other post on this board being about Ohio. You want to talk Ohio go to 11Warriors.

If you noticed in the other threads a lot have been moderated as flamebait. Clearly meaning you should have started a thread about it.

As a fan of The Ohio State University, I find it very difficult to hate Ohio. They are located in Athens, which is in a fairly poor part of the state. Other than Miami, I doubt anyone hates Ohio.

Just kidding lol Ohio U is actually awesome. My highs school hockey team and their Athens team had a big rivalry and our coaches cheer before the game started would be "Fuck Athens" good memories

Listening to the local sports talk about how everything is golden in Columbus and how Meyer has brought everyone together.

"After the Michigan game and once Urban was brought on I was happy with OSU again"

And they call us bandwagoners!!

Where's Tillman and the snake oil at?

you should try litigating (where a little animosity is tolerated) against them as a M alum!

I can't count how many times I have been screamed at while wearing M gear just walking down the street by some jacktard in a car driving bye.

Give the guy his due, he scored a top 5 class after starting way behind.  BUT to do so he took a highly-rated recruit from WI, another from MSU, and four, I think, from Penn State.  Those are going to be three unhappy coaches who will be trying very hard to exact a measure of revenge against Urb next year, I suspect.  It may be fun to watch.

Neal he just committed too late.  Urban said he was only expecting 4-5 more transfers this offseason based on what players have told him, which means he only has about 1 more scholarship left.  Even with all this talk about Urban Meyer oversigning, I think his track record at Florida proves that he is actually against the practice. So if there's any chance that Stefon Diggs might choose OSU, then Urban is making a wise choice to save a scholarship for him.

I'm gonna go with what Greg Mattison, said on the front page.  We don't care about star ratings, we care about the kids we see and want to come and play for Michigan.  I'm going to take the advice of one of the greatest defensive coaches and best recruiters in the game.
