Chris Muller update (bad)
January 31st, 2012 at 10:12 AM ^
(bad) makes me sad.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:17 AM ^
why wouldnt he? after diamond turns us down im fasting from recruiting for the rest of my life. (or until the next rumor entices me then fast is over)
January 31st, 2012 at 10:25 AM ^
We are still predicted to get Diamond, and so far, the scouting services have been pretty accurate with their predictions.
Although I still don't see how it relates to my comment.
I was simply stating that everytime I see a "(bad)" in a thread title, it's sad because it usually means something isn't going our way.

But its better than false hope...

He reaffirmed yesterday after the coaching announcement.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:19 AM ^
It seemed like yesterday's news but I never saw it on the board.
I just put it up for those that only come to this site for recruiting updates.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:18 AM ^
plz henry make it official, this board needs some positivity

This was pretty much a guarantee after Rutger's OL coach got promoted to HC.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:21 AM ^
Signing day is tomorrow. It'll all be over then. Right? RIGHT!?
January 31st, 2012 at 10:28 AM ^
Wrong. Diamond's announcing on Friday.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:08 AM ^
buh :(
January 31st, 2012 at 12:01 PM ^
...why don't we look at Robert Gregory?
The upside is too obvious to delineate here, for those that already know who he is... what's the downside, as compared to "banking" schollies?
January 31st, 2012 at 10:22 AM ^
(fingers crossed)
Of course, Diamond is the one assumed commit that has always scared me the most b/c he hasn't committed already....
January 31st, 2012 at 10:40 AM ^
Why in the world are you scared? Diamond has said explicitly for over a year that he would announce on or near Signing Day. He has lived up to his word. I'm not sure why this bothers you.

you downvote a recruiting post, but upvote the bachelor post? Hmmmmm.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:24 AM ^
Oh yeah? Well I downvoted both.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:28 AM ^
I can respect that.
You have a history of good posting so I have absolutely no problem with it.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:09 AM ^
Damn straight. I only downvoted you because I hate bad news and always shoot its bearer. Nothing personal.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:26 AM ^
Are you implying that I don't have a history of good posting?
January 31st, 2012 at 12:07 PM ^
I was just talking to Diabeetus.

You seem quite concerned about mgopoints. If you hang out long enough, you may notice a few things about them.
First; it is generally accepted here that the first rule about mgopoints is "don't bitch about mgopoints."
Second: while some people vote strictly for relevance, many vote for resonance. If they resonate with it, they upvote. If they don't, they downvote. Your favorite TV show might get you a trip to "Bolivia," while someone else's might get them a posbang. That means that the bearer of bad news might get downvoted. Luckily for him, the same people won downvote bad news usually upvote good news.
Third: there are well over a thousand people who post here. Each of them has well-thought, well-formed, firmly-held opinions, whether or not they agree with yours. You probably aren't going to change any of their opinions by complaining about them.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:18 AM ^
Each of them? Firmly-held, I'll give you that. Well-thought and well-formed? You're being way too charitable, or your standards are too low.
January 31st, 2012 at 12:19 PM ^
Im not concerned about points. i am concerned about new users feeling freedom to come on this board and posting about crap that is not related to Michigan sports or sports in general, like the bachelor.
I found this board in the fall of 2010 because it had great recruiting information and an overall great tone to it. I loved that the information was fast and TomVH had great relationships with the recruits. Most of all, the board was respectful in talking about other teams and recruits, players, coaches, other users, etc. and didnt stoop to the levels of many other sports boards.
Lately, there have been a lot of new users posting and creating threads that don't belong on this board. That is not my opinion, that is just consistant with the rules that are published. Consequently, the posts have been removed.
I certainly welcome new users - don't get me wrong, just think its important to orient them to the rules and the culture around here. One thing is for sure, if things don't tighten up, mgoblog not going to be as enjoyable as it once was.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:23 AM ^
Yes. There were three Rutgers updates on the second page (and another on the third), all of which stated the implications of their coaching change on this particular recruit.

Banking one scholarship. Calling my shot.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:44 AM ^
So, Sean Draper or V'Angelo Bentley?
January 31st, 2012 at 10:54 AM ^
Really out on a limb one day before NLOI day and after our targets have gone elsewhere!
January 31st, 2012 at 10:39 AM ^
Old news is so exciting!
January 31st, 2012 at 11:10 AM ^
a side topic... am a Michigan alum 1993 BSME and would like to buy a Michigan flag, the older type big ones that are solid navy blue with a maize M in the middle...the kind you see people hang outside the house on OSU gameday, or the kind you see in waiving in the stadium. the only ones i found were a little cheesy with lots of words on it, graphics, etc.
can someone assist please ? where is the best place ONLINE to buy one ? thanks in advance.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:13 AM ^
http://www.mden.com/um-flags-banners#
If you want larger than 4' by 6', I think you may have to look a knockoff flag.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:19 AM ^
thanks bluevoix... but what is a "knockoff" flag ?
January 31st, 2012 at 11:37 AM ^
As in, buying a flag from a non-licensed distributor or site. Plenty exist out there, for significantly cheaper than you'll get through MDen, Ulrich's, or Underground Printing. The quality and customer service are going to be what you expect though.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:15 AM ^
Garnett was bad news because we'd been recruiting him forever, but seeing as how we hardly knew Muller's name until Schiano jumped ship, there's no sense in getting worked up about this.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:43 AM ^
Agreed. Garnett, Reeves, Kozan, and Grant were bad news, this is just eh, what are you gonna do. It's hard to land a kids when you just come into the picture 4 days before signing day.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:16 AM ^
Just seems like ever since Aquaman emerged on this board, we've not had a lick of good news. Not saying in the wildest that he is the cause, just a strange coincidence, no? Oh come on it crossed you rminds don't negbomb me!
Keep up the good work, Aquaman! \s
January 31st, 2012 at 11:23 AM ^
Both are true....
1. Ever since Aquaman pulled a BKFinest, that the perception is correct.
2. The perception isn't reality, and that Aquaman has done a simply TREMENDOUS JOB, especially with the exit interview of RVB....here is to hoping he does more exit interviews.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:54 AM ^
...if you think there hasn't "been a lick" of good news!
Kids a sleeper, gonna be a beast... we'll be laffing our collective arse off that ohio missed him when he's wreaking havoc in their backfield & him + Frank Clark are turning that G-ville pipeline northward!!
January 31st, 2012 at 11:31 AM ^
This seems about right - they elevated his OLine coach to HC. Wish him luck.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:43 AM ^
discuss guys playing for Michigan.
January 31st, 2012 at 12:01 PM ^
It will not kill us if Diamond goes elsewhere; however, it would certainly be nice to have him Blue.
January 31st, 2012 at 12:26 PM ^
We were so close to having a player whose name almost kinda reminds me of the sweetest player to ever rock the flat top and banana hammock.
