he's one of the most polished post players in college basketball, if not the best.  one of the reasons his teammates get so many bunnies is because the D is focused on him.  he's a good passer too.

i admit though, i've seen him play better.

We had our chances.   We needed a little more luck on shots and a little more size. Hopefully a healthy Horford helps give us some more depth to play these guys. We can beat them at Crisler.

I'm so fucking tired of this. Without Jon we are a team with a 6 foot ten joke, a power forward who's been garbage for weeks, and one decent power forward being forced to play center because he's the only one on the floor who can even think about playing it.

in college basketball. Basketball officiating in general is a farce - in the NBA though it's the superstars who get the calls.

They have like 18 free throws at this point and we have 4. They shot 16 before we even got ONE. And don't give me that "it's only because they have a different style of play" garbage - we had MORE points in the paint than they did for most of the first half.

Can't wait 'til we play these hooligans at home.

Did you watch the game?  Are you really arguing that we took it to the paint more than OSU?

There was one, maybe two times where I thought "that'll get us to the line" and one of those was called.  OSU was bigger, faster, quicker and we played on the perimeter.  That's why we didn't get to the line.

most of their free throws were NOT coming from them working the paint.

Statistically, I really find it highly improbable that they could have had 16 free throws before we had any at all. Tell me, how often do we end up with 4 free throws, zero before the last five minutes, when we're playing at home? How often does Burke end up with no free throws?

this team often gives up a couple buckets then rushes down, hucks up a 3 and exacerbates the problem.  to beat better teams, you have to minimize the # of possessions.  it's ok to run if there are #s, but it's important to pull it back, run the offense and work the clock, when nothing is there.

I thought the team came out and played focused.  THe problem is that in order to beat ohio state you probably have to keep sullinger on the bench and if he's not on teh bench you need morgan on the floor. sullinger was on the bench in the 1st half. he wasn't in the 2nd and morgan had to sit. that alone is a HUGE advantage for ohio

1.  We're going to have to get stronger if we're going to win on the road.  You've got to finish on those second chance opportunities, whether they're hacking the crap out of you or not.  Because you're not going to get the whistle.

2. We have got to get some help for Jordan Morgan.  The drop off is just too great when he is on the bench.  When he AND Smotrycz are on the bench its just lights out.  That's recruiting.

3.  We're not that far off.  Tim is getting his groove back.  It seemed like every one of the "good" shots he took went down.  Shot selection still needs work.  They play like that and they're going to beat a lot of teams, including little bro in Lansing.

That fat OSU 'tard (yes, that basically applies to all OSU fans) who wears nuts around his neck (again, any OSU fan at any time of day) was given a gratuitous three second shot at the end of the game. That man is the reason that Ohio's fans are viewed as uneducated anchors on humanity.  I am a libertarian but some people are just born to be serfs, in the feudal sense of the word. I hate Ohio.

If there is any excuse other than "they have better athletes at nearly every position and absolutely crush us on the boards,"  then we are kidding ourselves.  I want to route for guys like Douglass, Novak, Smotrycz, and some of our bench players, but let's get real, Burke and Hardaway, and sometimes Morgan are the only ones that belong out there on a consistent basis if we want to consider ourselves in the same sentence as some of the elite teams.  In other words, some of the core of our team are, if anything, only role players in the elite basketball programs.

We will look back in 2014 and realize that these guys who play 20-35 minutes for us in 2012 would be mop up time eaters.
