Ondre Pipkins is upset with Josh Garnett

Submitted by MGoCooper on

According to Ondre Pipkins Twitter, he's pretty upset with Josh Garnett this evening. He feels he was lied to, and that is pretty much a direct quote. Obviously we don't know what was said to Ondre, but we can guess he thought it meant Garnett was definitely blue.

Note: I thought this deserved a thread of its own, because the Garnett thread was getting quite long.

this kid's attitude, Pipkins as well. Didn't let anyone down, of course. Neither did Garnett.

It's fine for Pipkins to be upset if certain things happened, they're young and it's between them. The board freakouts are silly. We've got a great class with a week to go, wish the kid well and move on

Given: Magnuson and Garnett are friends

GIven: Every kiss begins with Kay

Given: Ondre Pipkins tweets about Kay Jewelers

Given: Magnuson and Pipkins are disappointed in Garnett for not choosing Michigan

Conclusion: Garnett has told our current commits how badly he wants to kiss them.

make between Michigan and Stanford, and academics were his primary decision criteria.  Every time we compare favorably with an elite academic insitution like Stanford is fine with me.

I lived in Washington for many years, kids there grow up hoping to go to University of Washington, Berkeley, or Stanford.  I am thrilled that Hoke & Co. --  together with our school's amazing academic reputation--  made it a very close call for a stellar recruit from the Northwest.  Good luck, Josh.

If he wants to play in front of 20,000 fans then that is his right.  Soon enough without a Michigan Man coaching, Stanford will go back to being Stanford.

USC is coming off probation and other schools in the PAC 12 are rising quickly.

We need Diamond more than we needed Garnett.  That will be the big loss if we can't get him.

So do we think Josh had a change of heart, or was he just saying he was going to Michigan for the hell of it?

Garnett is obviously a good kid with a bright future. But he definitely did play coy a little too much. I can understand why certain folks at Michigan maybe feel led on. But there's no crying in football. So let's just kick Stanford's ass next time.

Don't count on that. Stanford will not be in the RB any time soon. They were at the top of the hill they climb every couple decades. USC is back, Oregon is a powerhouse, Washington is rising. PAC12 is going to be strong.

Truly undecided or leading us all on purposefully? Either way time to move on. It will raise an eyebrow when i hear his name maybe in a few years, but that is all. Don't even care about his post announcement interview.

First we loose to an SEC team in B-Ball and my wife totals our only car on the same day, and now Garnett goes all mascot without an s on the end. At least he didn't join the Fighting Irishes.

Stanford won't be going to the Rose Bowl anytime soon.  With the emergence of USC from hell and Chip Kelly staying at Oregon, those two teams will pretty much own the Pac 12 in my opinion.

lashing out at Garnett?  Yes, I wanted to log on and see a Hello: Josh Garnett, but there is no need to get upset with the kid himself.  I understand why some other recruits would be upset, but we as fans need to move on and wish him the best of luck.  Even without him we have one of (of not the) best OL class in the nation, plus a good shot of adding two more great prospects.  Let's all just take a deep breath and see what Grant, Reeves, Kozan and Diamond do.

You guys are all so upset about a HS kid not coming to Michigan, I can only imagine how you react when something really bad happens to you.

Time to move on

He was either legitimately undecided last night OR he lied about the standings (because if we knew there would be noone watching him be all center-of-attention on espn). The need to have an official espn announcement date vs him having to push the date back because he's undecided makes me want to say that he knew ahead of time and didn't want to lose all the attention. Unfortunately, we'll never know the truth behind this. This situation, however, does bring up serious questions about the kids character.

showed lots of character.  I believe it is hard to turn down the west coast when that is where you are from.  Some of you guys take this stuff way too personally - HE IS 18!  You are starting to sound like the idiots that chased Herbstreit out of OHIO  - frankly the amount of recruiting stalking that takes place anymore is getting a little creepy.

A) I haven't done a single bit of recruit stalking short of checking out the occasional message that gets posted here.

B) Pointing out that there is a large chance the kid was doing this for attention and that this could bring his character into question is not the same thing as wishing a torn acl on someone. Furthermore, if you thought there was a good chance that someone you knew was lying to you over something petty, well wouldn't you question their character?

C) It turns out he did lie.... so..... just wanted to point that out to ya.

Let me ask you something. Have you ever farted and then denied it was you? Have you ever told a telemarketer that you weren't home? Have you told someone carrying a petition that you didn't have time when you could have spared a few minutes?
<br>By your standard, a "yes" to any of these questions would seem to make you a liar for life.

Agree! Let's move on. He alone was not the difference between an ok season and a National championship! Good luck to him. We are still in great shape! Go Blue!!!!

I am bummed he's not coming but the pissed off people in this room need to let go. That's between pipkins and him. None of our business. We rip on Ohio fans for acting this way but when we don't get our way we resort with similar reactions( minus wishing harm on the guy). This makes me very disappointed.

Good luck Josh.

Where in this thread have you seen people wishing him to tear his ACL? Or get a concussioin? People are disappointed and angry because of all the pro-UM stuff he's been saying, but nobody here is taking it personally. Pretty much every post has been "This sucks, but oh well. Good Luck at Stanford"

Only mature thing to do here is wish the kid good luck and move on.  Remember the kid is 17-18 years old and has a twin sister who will be near him.  Family comes first.  Good for Garnett that he decided to be around his sister.  Good luck Joshua, hopefully we'll see you in Pasedena.

He's only a 17 year old kid.  He made an important decision and he won't be attending Michigan.  It happens.  We can wish him well and look forward to closing out our '12 class with players who want to be michigan men and having a great season next year

I think people should go through a couple of recruiting seasons before being allowed to post on mgoblog.  This isn't the first time a recruit went somewhere else, it won't be the last.

I can't imagine ever faulting a kid for going to Stanford.
