Via Rick Stroud (Bucs writer for the Tampa Bay Times) on Twitter:

620 WDAE in Tampa is reporting Rutgers coach Greg Schiano is possibly going to be the Bucs next HC. No confirmation of that from Bucs.

Interesting to say the least...

EDIT, sounds all but official:

Via Adam Schefter:

Filed to ESPN: Tampa Bay plans to hire Rutgers coach Greg Schiano as the next Buccaneers head coach. Two sides trying to finalize contract.

Eh, sometimes you only get one chance to coach at the next level.  I can't really blame him.  It's one thing to go from Pitt to Arizona State, because that's kind of a lateral move.  But going from Rutgers to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is a HUGE promotion.  It sucks for the kids/school, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Another dodged bullet. RichRod obviously didn't work out, but I'm glad we didn't end up with this guy. Who leaves a college head coaching job less than a week before signing day? And he skipped Paterno's funeral to interview with the Bucs?

Schiano turned out to be quite the scumbag.
