Badger fans are getting very nervous about possibly losing Dodson to OSU. They already lost JJ Denman to Rutgers today. They're mad because Coach Brett said he'd have his new coaches in place by now and they're not. The old coaches were the contacts to these O linemen.

UM fans (hell, myself included) are not above this spin.  But do you really think that's the case?  OSU wanted him, wanted him, wanted him, wanted him, wanted him [2 weeks pre-signing day], wanted him, wanted him, wanted him, [one week pre-signing day] I HAVE SOURED ON YOU!  ?

I usually hate when fellow OSU fans play the "OH WE DIDN'T WANT HIM ANYWAY" game, but this is a case where the OSU fanbase wanted him, but the coaching staff didn't.  There has been zero contact between OSU and Diamond since his official visit more than a month ago.  It's possible that it was a mutual decision, but the recruitment certainly ceased a while ago.  So while us fans may have been saying we have wanted him along - it's certainly not what the OSU program was thinking.

I promise, this is the first and last time I play the "We didn't want him anyway" card.

That gave me a chuckle, thanks.

Bill Greene of Scout.com says that OSU has not contacted Diamond since his last official visit (12/09/11). I'm in the camp that thinks Urban decided to shift his focus to flipping the in-state Dodson rather than a fickled Diamond. While I think Urban would love to have Diamond as well, he knows that the class is nearly full and he has to start being more selective. Personally I would like to see him cap off the class with Armani Reeves, Kyle Dodson and Stefon Diggs.

then youre in the minority of osu fans. most have been salivating over diamond for months. far more likely urban saw the writing on the wall and stopped recruiting him cause he knew there was no chance and no interest from him...given your needs on the o-line. but keep telling yourselves osu didnt end up wanting him if it makes you feel better.

new buildings look better than old, dilapidated buildings, yes I would agree with that.  You hate anything OSU, I get it but W/R/T recruits, I think seeing a brand new area with restaurants, bars and shopping isn't a detraction.  I'm pretty sure there aren't any 5* guys out there looking for a cosy kitch area.  "Rabble, rabble, I don't like your restaurants and new buildings, I want run down places with some character, like the old days, rabble". -no recruit, ever.

Very confident on Dodson (as in, near certainty based on what insiders are saying), but Reeves is still very much up in the air.  No feel on him either way - as close to 50/50 as it gets.

In terms of spots, OSU still has plenty due to attrition (already announced publicly, and future transfers that haven't been made public yet).  They will accept as many as want to come.  If I had to guess, I would say 4 more players - making it a class total of 26 once you figure in Roger Lewis going the JUCO route.

Diamond showed little love for OSU, and the same in return.  My guess is Urban realized they were longshots for him, and continuing to pursue him was hurting their chances with Dodson.

The bucknuts are confident on Dodson, but I wouldn't be surprised if he went to Wisky.

It seems like hoke and co. are building this team from the ground up starting with both sides of the line (offense and defense) which to me is smart football. If we get commits from diamond, garnett and kozan and filled the last spot wit armani I wouldn't be surprised at all.

I'd like to see a quote from Diamond himself on the situation. He is announcing after NSD so it would not make too much sense for OSU to drop him in hopes of gaining a more favorable position with another OL recruit. They could just wait till after NSD to see where Dodson goes and then decide to drop.

Someone is saying on bucknuts that an inside source said that Meyer quit recruiting him because he heard that Diamond is asking for money to play at their school. Hahaha they will go to any length to rationalize on why someone wont play there

thats tough for urban since im pretty sure osu boosters got slapped by the ncaa with a one-year probation from paying players, as has been par for the course for a decade. poor urbie :(

that if you go to OSU you get money, free tats, a Charger and cool loaners on occasion just for something different, and then there is the loose and free girls at the tat parlor as well.

So when the recruits find out OSU now has to look clean for a few years while everyone is watching, they are all let down and stuff.

If Diamond was really looking for the Pryor treatment, does anyone believe the seemingly minor, isolated instances or minor malfeasance did not manifest a recruiting advantage for Ohio State during the Tressel era?

All that semi-sarcastically said: Buckeye fans are saying we don't want him, he asked for money is a pretty hilarious concept.

Sure Urban soured on Diamond.  Just like Hoke soured on Dunn and Dantonio soured on every 4 & 5* recruit in the nation.

Checking that 247 board makes you really appreciate the general quality of discussion on MGoBlog.   The so-called Michigan fans on that site are as obnoxious as the Buckeye fans which is saying a lot.
