According to Scout.com Analyst:
Jordan Diamond will commit to Michigan and there is a 50% chance Armani Reeves does too. Anyones thoughts?

A recruit is down to two schools and they go 50/50..

what are their thoughts on Josh Garnett ?
Kozan?
Grant?
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:30 PM ^
The two analysts pick Stanford. I am hoping that they are wrong.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:47 PM ^
Predict that Garnett goes to Stanford. The vibe from all the M sites is just the opposite. Even given the M bias this one seems to be going the wrong way. A big surprise. C

Both the scouting services say Stanford. Yet I keep seeing how much he loves Michigan, and I haven't seen a single thing, relatively, about Stanford. Mind you, we're all biased because we're immersed in the Michigan-blogosphere, but at the same time I haven't seen anything to the contrary. Yes, Stanford is an amazing school, but Michigan is an amazing school as well. Stanford is closer, but it's still a 14 hour drive from Puyallup—a very long drive for his family to go see a game, one that would warrent a flight, just like Michigan does. I think the kicker is Magnuson. Everything I see between these two seems like they're best friends, that has to tilt things in our favor.
My interpretation: I think that we, at MGoBlog, have looked into this one specific recruit more than most of the pro's have (as they have to focus on a few hundred), which has allowed us to make a better informed decision, rather than making one just based on distance and Stanford's name. Is that a biased analysis? Absolutely. But I think it very well might be the right one.
January 24th, 2012 at 12:38 AM ^
To be honest, no one is ever biased when they say something I agree with, so it sounds like you're just plain right.
January 24th, 2012 at 6:38 AM ^
I think you mean opinion rather than decision. Garnett will make a decision and we have an informed opinion.
This is for future reference and not meant to portray the d**khead I can sometimes be.

I'm really not going to get my hopes up on Garnett. Even Sam webb said he likes the "stage" and kind of enjoys playing to his audience. Which is us. I hope we get him but for the love of god, don't let this blog go into meltdown mode if he chooses Stanford on thursday.

Anyone know why they're all predicting Garnett ends up at Stanford? I havent heard anything negative for Michigan, or did i miss anything?
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:37 PM ^
I'll say what I said in another thread. These same alalysts picked Ronald Johnson would go to Michigan and Donovan Warren was headed to USC. We know how both of those ended up. The people I trust Ace, Aquaman, Tom VH and Tim Sullivan all like our chances. That's good enough for me.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:50 PM ^
Yea, that's why I was very surprised to see almost all of the analysts picking Stanford.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:38 PM ^
their guess. And its more than likely because he visited there last, and is from the west coast.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:36 PM ^
The OP is kind of deceiving. The analysts did not say that Jordan Diamond would commit or that Armani Reeves was a 50% shot. They showed predictions by two analysts per prospect. Both analysts picked Michigan for Diamond and one analyst picked Michigan and Ohio State each for Reeves.
Also, both analysts picked Stanford for Garnett but that doesn't mean he is 100% going to Stanford, that is just what they think at this point.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:35 PM ^
Even though so called "experts" say he is going to Stanford, they do not have Aquaman Interviews
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:36 PM ^
Yeah it would be wierd if Garnett went to stanford, especially with the friendship he and erik magnuson have developed. Lets hope these anaylsts dont know what they are talking about.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:36 PM ^
I don't know about you, but i am excited. I am always open for a few signing day suprises.

The scout page now has both analysts predicting Michigan for Diamond, unless they're rotating picks from more than 2 analysts.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:42 PM ^
two for Garnett/Stanford
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:47 PM ^
With all these garnett to stanford predictions I am expecting his commitment less and less, but then again what do these analysts know. We'll kow for sure on Thursday.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:49 PM ^
recent success rate?
I'd love to know how often these guys are right.
They do these every year, a week or so before signing day.
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:52 PM ^
Based on everything I've seen written and said, Diamond keeps everything with a neutral slant. I get zero confidence beyond a one in five chance based on his final five.
Garnett, on the other hand, shows nothing but love towards Michigan, the other recruits, the coaches, etc. he's also narrowed it down to two finalists. Based on that alone, we have two and a half times better chance of success with Josh. If you take the intangibles into account, I'm 75/25 in favor of Michigan.
I believe the so called experts are guessing based on old data and geography. I'm confident on Garnett and have no idea with Diamond ...
January 23rd, 2012 at 11:57 PM ^
I'd be blown away - SHOCKED, if he chose otherwise.
I don't care what "recruiting experts" think.
January 24th, 2012 at 12:02 AM ^
Apparently Meyer showed up late for the visit, and Reeves came away unimpressed. All the fine Ohio folk on 11Warriros and Bucknuts are already accepting him commiting to Michigan as a foregone conclusion; they're even starting to squirm a little.
Obviously no one truly knows what's going on, but things are looking up!!!

If this Reeves report is true, winning the first high-profile recruiting battle against U. Meyer would be huge. Not only would we bet a quality player and human, but it would seriously slow down the recruiting machine down there. Very excited to see how this turns out. Just hope Mattison isn't delayed tomorrow...

I'm a knuckle dragger/mouth breather and I can barley take going over to 11W, must be I've never pooped in a cooler or had "relations" with a relitive.
January 24th, 2012 at 12:27 AM ^
Man, a surprising number of kids likely to pick Rutgers. Was there a crazy twitter rampage I didn't hear about?
January 24th, 2012 at 12:31 AM ^
"50/50". He's really going out on a limb considering there are two schools left.
January 24th, 2012 at 12:36 AM ^
For the most the head doesn't move against the heart. Garnett might well be leaning Stanford but that friendship thing might be too much for his heart to overcome. And it's not as if he wouldn't be getting a world class education as part of the deal.
January 24th, 2012 at 12:42 AM ^
Near, far, where ever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more, you open the door
And you're here in my heart, and
Josh's heart will go on and on.
January 24th, 2012 at 3:27 AM ^
Is that you?
January 24th, 2012 at 8:24 AM ^
... you had to look up the lyrics for that and didn't just know them off the top of your head!
January 24th, 2012 at 9:05 AM ^
I truly feel like we get...
24. Josh Garnett
25. Sam Grant
26. Armani Reeves
27. Jordan Diamond
However, my confidence goes (most to least confident): Grant, Garnett, Diamond, Reeves.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:38 AM ^
28. DGB
Book that shit
January 24th, 2012 at 10:08 AM ^
I'd put Reeves over Diamond, if only because we have 4 competitors for Diamond and only 1 for Reeves.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:55 AM ^
I mean, just because the "experts" think that a recruit will choose one school, it doesn't mean he won't commit to a different school. Doesn't that happen every year? Snake oil or not, the experts are frequently wrong when predicting commitments. So I won't be surprised by this "surprise".
January 24th, 2012 at 3:36 PM ^
I'm surprised becaus he seems to like Michigan more than stanford in his interviews and everything.
