I don't really get why.  He probably isn't going to get to start at ND until he's a junior, where he could probably have a shot right away at LSU, as well as a MUCH better shot at a national title.

Rees (Jr.) is the most experienced, but might be lost without Floyd.

Hendrix (R So.) is a 4* recruit that a lot of people like for the starting position

Kiel (Fr.) is the nation's top QB recruit

No way they balance 3 guys like that.  My instinct says that Rees starts, Hendrix transfers after 2012 and Kiel redshirts; or Hendrix takes over the job, Rees transfers and Brian Kelly has to convince Kiel to stay with only 2 years of elligibility after Hendrix graduates.

What does everyone else think?

You're forgetting about Gholson (sp?) people in the ND program are REALLY big on this guy.  He redshirted the 2011 season I believe.  It's not hard to envision Kiel not starting for quite a few years and even then might only get 1 full year if Gholson stays for all 5.  It just doesn't make sense unless Kiel thinks hes the cats pajamas and will beat them all out from the get go.  As we've seen with his ridiculous level of commits then decommits.... he is a bit unpredictable and might not be fully thinking things through.

I saw the coverage on ESPN. Luiginbil said kiel and his family were only concerned with depth charts and where he could play early with little competition. They basically went down the list of schools and said, "Alabama? Nope they have their guy. Tennessee? Nope they have theirs." Until they landed on ND. I don't know about you but I don't want a QB that isn't willing to compete for a spot and just wants it handed to him. *cough* Jamarcus Russell *cough*.

He chose a team that has two QBs ahead of him, each with game-time experience and at least some success at the college level.

He isn't likely to play in 2012, and has an uphill battle to win the starting job after that.

There are a ton of programs where he could have walked in and immediately been the crown prince--Wisconsin and Sparty come to mind.

So either they're not master logicians or there was some other logic at play.

But I doubt he's any more committed to Kiel either.  That might make it worse: you're going in as 3rd string to two guys, both of whom will have a chance to prove their worth before you will, to a guy who might draft two more 4/5* QBs behind you.

It just sounds to me like they didn't think this through, or maybe he got cold feet on LSU because it's far from home?

I figure if he wanted to play right away on a good team, Wisconsin would be the ideal scenario.

Ha!   I noticed that he always down voted my posts, but I thought he just didn't like something about my posts, was jealous of my kick-ass dance moves, or feared my ability to steal his girlfriends.

I had no idea he did it with every thread

Obviously the lad has the same mental stability as Chip "if you ain't cussin', you ain't livin' " Kelly.

I would rather have my son learn synthetic chemicals 101 from Honey Badger than be around Chip Kelly.

His uncle was a starter at QB for Notre Dame. Don't we all assume that a kid whose dad or other close relative played for UM will naturally want to come here if he gets an offer?
