Poll: Who do you hate the most?

Submitted by oriental andrew on

Inspired by this thread (and I'm sure countless others before it), which school do you hate the most?  Just in case the poll below doesn't embed properly, here is the URL.  I threw in my vote for osu.

EDIT 1:

Well, the masses have spoken and, so far, it's osu in a landslide.

http://poll.pollcode.com/xpxz_result?v

Currently, 85 votes (70%) for ohio; 17 votes (14%) for msu; 8 votes (7%) for all 3 equally; 7 votes (6%) for notre dame; 3 votes (2%) for hate leads to suffering; and 1 intrepid voter for some reason really hates illinois.

EDIT 2:

Another update, and it's still osu by a wide margin.

  1. osu, 223 votes, 71%
  2. msu, 43 votes, 14%
  3. nd, 22 votes, 7%
  4. all equal, 13 votes, 4%
  5. hate leads to suffering (yoda), 7 votes, 2%
  6. illini!!!!, 4 votes, 1%

EDIT 3 (final, probably):

The probably final update says...

  1. we hate the $uckeye$ yeah OH-NO!!!!  302 votes, 69%
  2. we also hate lil bro for being an irritating PITA, like all lil bros are, 62 votes, 14%
  3. we hate nd like that annoying pimple that shows up just before a big date, 35 votes, 8%
  4. a few of you really have a lot of hatred built up, hating them all equally, 23 votes, 5%
  5. which is unhealthy, as the jedis-in-training have learned well from yoda that hate leads to suffering, 9 votes, 2%
  6. and some of you are just deluded, or are illinois fans voting on this poll to bolster your numbers, 7 votes, 2%

Having spent most of my life in Michigan living close to Lansing, I almost hate MSU more. The difference to me is having to spend so much time with MSU fans, and I'm sure most of you know how unbearable this can be. That having been said, it's only annoying. It's not the good vs evil situation I visualize when I think of the UM-OSU rivalry.

I'm fine with ND. I don't have to deal with their fanbase, and I respect ND as an institution.

Have to add Duke to this for the B-Ball team.  Sooo....

1) OSU

2) ND

3) Duke

4) MSU (mainly because of Dantonio, for most of my life this has been more a rivalry of wanting to beat the other in state team)

I've had to listen to that damn Trojan band playing their little fanfare as they beat us in yet another Rose Bowl too many times. They're every bit as dirty as Ohio State and always have been.

Here is the one that still gets me Don.  Down 27 - 7 in a game we were heavily favored to win and possible capture the MNC we get stuffed on a 1st and goal from the 2 yard line in the third quarter before launching an amazing comback.  With less than a minute to go Leach drives the team down inside the Washington 10 yard line and swings a pass to a wide open Stan Edwards who proceeds to basically juggle the football as he runs thereby managing to put it on his shoulder pads where a Washington player happily takes it from him for the drive killing and game ending interception.  Caught cleanly Edwards walks into the endzone.  It still hurts.

As I mentioned previously, I hate OSU more, but I find MSU fans the most arrogant of the bunch.  Basically, I find it ironic that they always call UM fans arrogant yet they are the ones that constantly try to say you can only root for a college football team if you went to that school.  I find it arrogant that they don't realize there's also a lot of good non-d1 schools in the state of Michigan such as Kalamazoo, Hope, Calvin, Albion, ect.    MSU fans act like if you didn't go to MSU or UM then that automatically means you aren't educated.  They don't realize that people that didn't go to UM or MSU didn't always get rejected, but they chose another school because of financial reasons, location, sizes, programs, ect.

native Michigander, but my time at UofM solidified much of my hate.  I played (club) sports at Michigan, traveling and interacting with fanbases really shaped these oppinions.

Hate:

1. Michigan State University

2. Ohio Football

3. Mark Dantonio

4. Michigan State University

5. The rest of OSU

...Notre Dame might be the only team that I would really describe as hating.  Guess I'm getting old, but it seemed like they always caught some kind of damn lucky break to beat us.  It never feels like they are actually a better team or played a better (except maybe 2008).  NBC is annoying.  And I can't even stand to look at that damn leprechaun mascot.  And of course all the cliches about luck of the irish, touchdown jesus, etc.

I think having the Notre Dame game early in the season also plays a role.  They have beaten us much in recent years but there was a time when they often tagged us with our first loss of the season.  In football, the first loss is always the toughest because it ruins the goal of a perfect season.

MSU doesn't bother me personally much because they don't really win all that often.  Last couple of years have been an exception not the norm.  I expect that pretty soon it will be back to normal with M winning all the Ann Arbor contests and roughly splitting the East Lansing games.  That works out to about one annoying MSU upset victory every four years which is actually pretty close to the historical norm.

OSU is frustating but frankly they have fielded better teams than Michigan during most of their recent success.  And because they are our big, season-ending rival I like to see them have strong teams...as long as we beat them.  I did specifically hate that weasel Tressel because his act was so obviously contrived.

If there is a second team that I might describe as hating, it would be USC.  Some of those Rose Bowl losses have been total bullshit.

1. Anything remotely associated with Ohio.

2. Mark Dantonio

3. Mark Dantonio's offspring

3. Kirk Cousins

4. Any and every Spartan fan

5. The SEC

6. USC

7. Vince Young

While I do hate Ohio the most, I still have respect for them out of the sake of the rivalry, minus Tressel, Pryor, etc. Ohio and Michigan are like 2 brothers that flat out hate each other, beat the crap out of each other, but at the end of the day, still respect one another.

That being said, I have no respect for Dantonio or MSU, given the way they talk about us, and how they act like whiny little bitches every time they think they've been cheated.

ND isn't on here because I don't really hate them. Rather, I just feel sorry for them.

Honestly?  I hate MSU more than OSU.  OSU has always been a rival, but they at least have a history of winning and (generally) have a certain reverance for the competition between the two schools.  MSU?  They bitch and moan about being overlooked, trumpet any winning streaks, and general act like petulant children.  I was in Columbus the last time (before this year) when UM beat OSU, and while I got heckled a bit there was still a sense that UM won the game and look out for next year.  At MSU, I was verbally and physically accosted on non-gameday weekends simply because I had on a UM sweatshirt.

I have lived in Columbus the last 8 years.  With all due respect to the above poster (I too know several tolerably human OSU fans), there is no question for me who is number one on my hate list.  It's hands down my number one bathroom.

1a. Ohio. From the delusional fanbase, to the long history of cheating, to the weak, weak musical traditions, to Tressel. Pestilence to those guys. I hope Meyer continues the tradition of all Ohio coaches since WW2 getting fired or resigning in disgrace.

1b. PSU. Recently added to the Hate List, their conduct in the Sandusky scandal ripped the lid off of what everyone thought for decades to be a model program. I hope State College gets swallowed up by the ground and buried under a lava flow. Die in a fire, Nittany vermin.

2. USC. Probably the biggest cheaters in the Pac-12. Dishonorable mention to UCLA for failing year in and year out to make a show of it vs. USC.

3. ND. Go away and never come back. You are not nationally relevant. And take Lou Holthhhh with you.

Saban's coaching career at all levels only proves one thing. He can't win if he is unable to secure unfair advantages through nefarious morally reprehensible practices

I drive a bus on MSU campus and take students to classes. My good friend is Bobby Wilson who played with Percy Snow and then won a Super Bowl with the Redskins. Im surrounded by MSU. But I hate Ohio the most after all that.

I don't really "hate" any of them, but my dislike is the strongest for Sparty, then Ohio, with ND coming in a distant third.

If I was to rank the rivalries, though, despite the recent statistical aberration, it would be Ohio, ND, and MSU.  That would also be the respect I have for the three programs: Ohio, ND, but with MSU a distant, distant third.

The bottom line, though, is respect.  Even though I dislike Ohio, I still have respect for them. I also have respect for what ND used to do, and see their potential to do it again.  No matter how many games they win, though, I just can't muster any respect whatsoever for Sparty.  The main reason is that nobody brags more about a win than Sparty.

When Sparty does a lot better than 32-67-5 against Michigan, I find their recent delusions of superiority to be laughable.  If they win the next 35 and I am still around afterwards, then maybe I will change my mind.

Until then, they might as well be the Michigan State Fighting Rodney Dangerfields.

hate OSU the SCHOOL the most.

But after a lifetime of kinda feeling sorry for MSU being little brother, have really come to dislike Dantonio and his band of merry thuggies; am most anxious to beat MSU. Next year, I think I would even forego a close loss to OSU to beat MSU.
