... and I thought WE had a bad day.
January 14th, 2012 at 7:16 PM ^
Think how bad a day it was for a Michigan and UNC fan.
January 14th, 2012 at 4:13 PM ^
That has to be a record for biggest loss to an unranked team by a top 5 team EVER!
January 14th, 2012 at 4:18 PM ^
NU now up by 6
January 14th, 2012 at 6:09 PM ^
msu's loss just makeup a lil for the michigan loss
January 14th, 2012 at 4:19 PM ^
UNC took their bench players and coaches to the locker room with 15 second left. Good idea because a rush the court was coming. In a classy way they went over and shook the other teams hands and went to the locker room and finished the game. Never seen this happen before.

What?
January 14th, 2012 at 4:25 PM ^
And if you're not watching any of these games, the Fab Five is on ESPN.
January 14th, 2012 at 4:34 PM ^
I am watching Kansas and Iowa State. Game features two of the best bigs in the country; Thomas Robinson for Kansas and Royce White for Iowa State
29-24 Iowa State with 6 to go in the half
Royce White has 10 points and 9 rebounds
Thomas Robinson 5 points and 3 rebounds
January 14th, 2012 at 4:39 PM ^
Quite a foul-fest. They're averaging over a foul a minute.
January 14th, 2012 at 4:39 PM ^
Shit this is what I hate about the college game. White picks up his second foul with 5 to go in the half and has to sit
I would like to see college go to 6 fouls, so players get to play.
January 14th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
Keep in mind the difference in minutes played between the two leagues.
48minNBA/40minNCAA=1.2
6foulNBA/5foulNCAA=1.2
Not saying support for a 6 foul limit is unreasonable, but it's actually the same in the pros.
January 14th, 2012 at 4:57 PM ^
Yeah I know. I wouldn't mind seeing the pros go to 7 fouls. Almost every college game, one player picks up two early fouls and has to sit for much of the half. Happened with Trey Burke today.
January 14th, 2012 at 5:03 PM ^
I think this would have disastorous effects re: playing basketball instead of football on hardwood.
Game would get U-G-L-Y.
January 14th, 2012 at 5:05 PM ^
Did you watch Michigan today? Games are already ugly. I know where you are coming from, maybe they could experiment with it in pre-season tournament games and see how it goes.
January 14th, 2012 at 8:23 PM ^
I have to agree. I remember watching some of those Sparty teams in the early 00's and noticing just how rough they were. With 7 fouls, games with physical players would devolve to fights more often than not.
January 14th, 2012 at 5:00 PM ^
Iowa State 43 Kansas 40 at half. Iowa State not the same team without White. ISU fortunate to be up 3 at the half. I don't like their chances for an upset
Royce White:10 points 10 rebounds 3 assists 2 blocks. 4 of 5 from floor
Thomas Robinson: 10 points 7 rebounds 1 assist 1 block. 4 of 10 from the floor
January 14th, 2012 at 5:10 PM ^
be ready for the 1-3-1 from Michigan after NU uses it today to take them down? Will Michigan even use the 1-3-1? Should be an interesting game after both teams suffer losses to unranked teams today.
January 14th, 2012 at 5:25 PM ^
But according to all the basketball announcers all that we ever run is the 1-3-1? Why would they lie to us about that?
January 14th, 2012 at 5:11 PM ^
Huge win for Northwestern and there was nothing cheap about it. Belien is right, those boys can play. I don't feel the least bit bad for Izzo and State
January 14th, 2012 at 6:08 PM ^
I'm sure there's something cheap about the game coming from Spartan fans. Both teams looking ahead to Tuesday.
January 14th, 2012 at 5:25 PM ^
So where is everyone saying State sucks because they lost a road game in the best conference in the country??? Oh wait, you mean that's not the end of the world?
January 14th, 2012 at 5:53 PM ^
I'm sure no one cares about what state does here.
January 14th, 2012 at 6:12 PM ^
i don't think anyone cares about state. atleast i don't.
January 14th, 2012 at 6:15 PM ^
I care about beating them Tuesday. That game figures to be a war. I would expect shooting percentages to be down, with both teams expending their energy playing max D, with no gimmes. Might come down to the foul line. .
January 14th, 2012 at 8:32 PM ^
You missed the point. I meant just because you lose to a worse team on the road doesn't mean that your season is automatically over. North Carolina lost to freaking Florida State by 20some points. I'd be willing to bet they'll still be a 1-2 seed.
January 14th, 2012 at 8:33 PM ^
You give Carolina too much credit. They lost by 33
January 14th, 2012 at 6:10 PM ^
Kansas was too deep for Iowa State. Big games from Withey and Tyshawn Taylor proved the difference. 82-73 Kansas
In the match-up of the to big guys, Royce White and Thomas Robinson, it is safe to say neither played their best, but both ended up with a double double
Royce White 18 points and 17 rebounds
Thomas Robinson 11 points and 14 rebounds
The Achilles Heal for both White and Robinson is foul shooting, but both look like they could become average, their form isn't that bad.

I was more impressed by the SDSU student section and entire arena than I have been by any crowd since the Illini crowd in their undefeated season.
Granted, I didn't watch the Indiana/Kentucky game and don't watch a whole lot of Duke or UNC. But, wow - SDSU's entire crowd was on their feet and loud as hell the final 7+ minutes of that game.

Bad day yesterday as a Michigan fan, great day as a fan of the #1 Syracuse University Orangemen.
