...why is traditional media reporting dying?
January 13th, 2012 at 6:17 PM ^
That's what he looks like!
January 13th, 2012 at 7:44 PM ^
If I looked like that I would hate life too!
January 14th, 2012 at 10:07 AM ^
Oh Davey!
January 14th, 2012 at 12:23 PM ^
A load that should have been swallowed.
January 13th, 2012 at 5:47 PM ^

January 13th, 2012 at 5:53 PM ^
2nd place was a functionally retarded chimpanzee.
January 13th, 2012 at 7:06 PM ^
in related news, mother terresa was named playmate of the year
January 13th, 2012 at 7:29 PM ^
It was the best of times, it was the BLURST of times. You stupid monkey.
January 14th, 2012 at 12:21 PM ^
I thought 2nd went to Drew Sharp??? Oh, never mind.
January 13th, 2012 at 5:54 PM ^
Angelique! Angelique!
January 13th, 2012 at 6:00 PM ^
Did Rosenberg get teary eyed?
January 13th, 2012 at 6:00 PM ^
Are you kidding me? Did they feel sorry for the guy? Angelique should win every year.
January 14th, 2012 at 12:19 PM ^
Come on... I <3 Angelique but she's clearly a Michigan homer. I don't have a problem with that per se but when one is awarding an annual award, I'm looking for more depth in one's work than her fluff pieces.
January 13th, 2012 at 6:13 PM ^
The Freep sure does seem to like sportswriters who look like they have never ever played a sport in their lives.
January 14th, 2012 at 12:00 AM ^
No offense to Brian, but he's not the most athletic looking cat himself.
January 13th, 2012 at 6:22 PM ^
Did everyone else just retire?
January 13th, 2012 at 6:25 PM ^
Wojo ?!?!?!
January 13th, 2012 at 7:17 PM ^
would have been classy to give it to Tom Kowalski.
January 13th, 2012 at 7:57 PM ^
Good thought.
January 13th, 2012 at 7:43 PM ^
Well said.

maybe its because he finally figured out what countable hours are....

the fact that mitch albom won this award 7 times demonstrates its prestige and accuracy.
January 13th, 2012 at 11:18 PM ^
Albom deserved his awards early in his career. It's just when his head swelled to a point where a polo shirt is a physical impossibility that he became a joke. Albom writes like he remembers that he went to lit class, and he has gotten books that have nothing to do with sports on the NYT Bestseller list.
Albom may be a pompous douchebag now, but he is quite a talented writer when he remembers to subjugate his Napoleonic ego.
January 14th, 2012 at 12:17 AM ^
When I was in college, I used to enjoy reading Albom. After he met all those people in heaven, I stopped liking him....
January 13th, 2012 at 8:01 PM ^
I'm going to check Snopes...this can't be for real. Nice try.
January 13th, 2012 at 9:39 PM ^
The OP forgot to give a freep warning for those that want to give the newpaper "hits"
January 14th, 2012 at 12:53 AM ^
crime does pay.
January 14th, 2012 at 10:09 AM ^
Well, I guess if you have to give it to SOMEONE...
January 14th, 2012 at 11:59 AM ^
And mainstream journalism isn't a joke?
January 14th, 2012 at 2:57 PM ^
Sportswriters vote on everything, so shouldn't - you know - READERS vote on awards that they made to bestow on themselves?
John Niyo of the News has been the best print sports journalist in the state the past couple years and it hasn't even been close.
January 14th, 2012 at 3:17 PM ^
There went my last lingering bit of loyalty to print media.
