Another ohio player gets arrested, again
Just saw on the local news that Ohio second string CB Dominic Clark got arrested for an OVI on Saturday.
I think he got arrested earlier this season for shooting a BB gun from his dorm room.
Always nice to see more buckeye schadenfreude.

Good thing no Michigan players have any issues with driving violations.....
January 11th, 2012 at 11:47 PM ^
And Michigan players have had issues that are worse than driving violations.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:31 AM ^
There are two differences in crimes committed by Michigan players compared to those who play for Meyer or Dantonio: quantity and quality. I won't run down the list of criminals who have played for either coach, but it is well-documented that neither coach seems to care very much about his players' relationship with the criminal justice system.
I am thoroughly convinced that if it wasn't for alumni pressure from the Brantley brothers and their supporters, Meyer wouldn't have punished Cam Newton for his theft of a computer, and he would have played out his college "career"at Florida.
As for those who cite Stonum, his last one doesn't count; "indefinitely suspended" means he isn't officially part of the program until further notice.

I see Urban Meyer is making his mark already.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:25 PM ^
You mean Urban Meyer is making his Mark (Dantonio) already, right?
January 11th, 2012 at 11:15 PM ^
Are you going to represent him? Just kidding, but the juxtaposition between your post and your sig had to be noted.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:19 PM ^
But his arrignment is at 10 am tomorrow right up the road from my office. I might just stop by take in the sights.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:25 PM ^
Sure, you make fun, but if a lawyer could just get the contract to represent all of OSU's players, he'd be a weathy man!
Don't forget, it's not just criminal law, you get contract law (car dealers) and family law (baby mamas) - it's a diverse and fulfilling practice!
I wonder if I could pass the Ohio bar . . . .

I'm sure not stopping to drink with them!

January 11th, 2012 at 11:18 PM ^
This should be the first entry in the Fulmer Cup.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:22 PM ^
The crime was committed two days before the MNC. As Spencer RT'd earlier, it cannot be counted because it was committed before the Fulmer Cup started.
January 12th, 2012 at 10:24 AM ^
There should be a Dantonio or Meyer Cup, awarded for in-season crimes. After all, anyone can get in trouble during the offseason. It takes a dedicated player to do it while the season is still going on.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:26 PM ^
I mean we did just have a player who is on probation get in trouble and I think Hoke runs a tight ship. Let the dust settle before we go calling out others for dumb mistakes. However, let me also say F OSU

/glass houses
January 11th, 2012 at 11:49 PM ^
I hate Urban Meyer but throwing the tired "tight ship" barb at him for this is beyond moronic.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:54 PM ^
"Running a tight ship" and having guys get in trouble are not mutually exclusive. Judge the coach after the discipline, not before. Otherwise, glass houses etc. etc.
January 11th, 2012 at 11:59 PM ^
He must not have been driving an approved test drive vehicle.
January 12th, 2012 at 12:04 AM ^
how are those private eyes they hired doing?
January 12th, 2012 at 8:08 AM ^
This guy
or these guys?
Knowing Ohio, I'd guess the latter.
January 12th, 2012 at 12:07 AM ^
we need personal foul signs for MSU and arrest signs for Urban. the best part is that MSU personal fouls vs Michigan against arrests in a given year for OSU pretty much has to be a pick 'em given the current coaching regimes.

Clarke is a criminology major. The BB gun he was using back then on top of the "MarketPlace" cafeteria belongs to fellow student and alleged clothing sizer Chris Carter. Two to three people were seen taking target practice, but by the time authorities arrived, only Clarke was left. He's getting a lot of field experience for the major in his freshman year. 11W folks are waiting for the urban legend to show up and lay down the law (and free up a roster spot for someone better in the minds of some of them).
January 12th, 2012 at 12:18 AM ^
These things happen. Maybe the new regime's strong family values can help show him the way.

Kids will be kids. The only real question is what will the grown ups do about it. Stay tuned.

It's probably worthwhile starting a tally of Ohio arrests.
Arrests under Urban Meyer while at Floriduh:

Dominic Clark was an inherited problem, to be fair, but I can't wait to see what Meyer does about it to set the tone of how his reign in Columbus will go when it comes to problematic players. If it is no different than what happened in Gainesville, then the Columbus police will probably have their hands full.
January 12th, 2012 at 6:25 AM ^
But I don't feel like piling on. College kids do stupid things. (For that matter, so do adults, but usually they've been burned enough to know better.)
Anyway, I hope Clark gets his life together (as I do Stonum,) and I don't think it reflects poorly on Meyer if Clark isn't kicked off the team. Regardless, my thoughts on this won't affect what will happen, and it doesn't matter either way.
The only thing I'll say is that at times this board can be awfully sanctimonious about the sins at Michigan State and Ohio State and the SEC, etc., etc., etc.
January 12th, 2012 at 9:40 AM ^
In light of out own recent events , I find the hypocrisy in this thread a little embarrassing.
January 12th, 2012 at 8:02 AM ^
College kids are gonna be college kids. It's the discipline handed down that a coach can control and the ensuing problems that truly show how tight of a ship a coach runs.
January 12th, 2012 at 8:22 AM ^
People in glass houses sink ships.

Careful what you say about Meyer's players...he'll come at you, bro.

it might represent some schaden in buckeye land... but the freude is right here on this board, and it's rather unbecoming.

the Urban factor
January 13th, 2012 at 7:41 AM ^
yeah bb gun out the dorm room (sounds like something a college kid would do) and a traffic violation (def. something any one could do) doesnt sound like a huge deal IMO.
