crisler center question 3 point line
i was watching the womans basketball game yesterday against Ohio and i noticed that there is only one 3 point line on the court and i believe its the mens line. Today i am checking out the Indiana PSU game and there are two 3 point lines one for mens and one for the women. my question is why does Crisler only have one 3 point line? sorry if this is covered somewhere else or you feel it is a dump question. it just stuck me as odd thanks

Not positive, but my guess is that they have two different floors for Mens games and Womens games whereas PSU just has one.

Have different floors?

The same way you can play hockey or basketball on the same floor I guess. lol

Basketball floors are almost always removable.

EDIT: Sigh....Blockquote fail :(

In women's basketball, the 3-point line will be moved back to 20 feet, 9 inches, which is the standard in the men's game. That means those floors that have been home to both men's and women's games no longer must contain multiple 3-point lines

Crisler was floor was re-done. Therefore only having one, whereas old courts still haven't gotten rid of the old Women's three line.

Click "Switch to plain text editor" before you use the blockquote tabs. You can switch back to the rich editor after closing the blockquote.

Anyone else still think "Crisler Center" sounds incredibly dumb?

I kinda like the sound of it.

I fear change...

Hate it. I think Crisler Arena sounds much better than Crisler Center. Just my opinion.

It sounds fine.

Like it.

But as others have said, the womens line has been moved back. I feel like a lot of other arenas will keep the closer line so they can continue to host high school basketball games, which I don't believe Crisler ever does.

the ncaa prohibits Division 1 schools from hosting high school athletic events. this is a newer rule I believe.

The basketball semi-finals and finals have long been held at the Breslin Center, and still are. And some of the quarter-final games are often held at CMU or U of D, as well. Maybe there is a rule like that for regular season events, I don't know.

the Meijer Holiday Hoops Classic for men's basketball which was still held this year.

Just looked it up. DI schools cannot host non-scholastic high school athletic events. Things like aau I assume.

72% of the women's three point attempts last year were behind the men's line anyway.
