OT: Lions-Saints Playoff Game Open Thread
OK, this other games sucks, so get all your positive Lion talk in now, since not being able to hold a 2nd string QB to under 40 has probably killed any chance of seeing the Lions win their second playoff game in most of our lifetimes. At least I'm not still in New Orleans for it.

When you can't tackle and don't take advantage of turnovers or possible turnovers...then you're not going to beat New Orleans. Especially when the refs aren't calling much in your favor.

too many missed opportunities. the playoff tested teams makes the plays detroit didn't tonight
January 7th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
That was a nice "Fuck you!" from Calvin.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
Two onsides after the TD?
January 7th, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
Stafford isn't giving up
January 7th, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
No shit, he's awesome.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
No PI?
January 7th, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
That was a nice catch there. A shame he doesn't play cornerback, too.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
They should put him on the kick duty...
January 7th, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
calvin johnson is complete beast mode
January 7th, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
Nice audio cue from the NBC producer, there.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
At least they're covering.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
Onside kick upcoming...cue "Don't Stop Believin'" over the PA?
January 7th, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
For now.
January 7th, 2012 at 10:59 PM ^
Calvin Johnson is the most physically gifted receiver in the (history of the?) NFL. Finally putting it all together. This team should be right back in it next year too
January 7th, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
Worst onside ever.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
now its over for realz

January 7th, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
Do the NBC guys know there's holding on every other play?
January 7th, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
what a dick move by brees
January 7th, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
January 7th, 2012 at 11:03 PM ^
He's an asshole. Was a whiny bastard at Purdue, even more annoying in the NFL paired with Payton.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
Berry is horrible
January 7th, 2012 at 11:03 PM ^
secondary bad
January 7th, 2012 at 11:03 PM ^
We have to be the first team in the history of the NFL to give up 600+ yds in consecutive games
January 7th, 2012 at 11:04 PM ^
Tonight's shit-fest notwithstanding, this is a team on the rise. They're young, and next year they'll get Best and Leshoure back. Upgrade the O-Line and the back 7 on D, and this team is gonna be pretty damn good.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:05 PM ^
Did I mention that I hate the Saints? They're up there with the Steelers and Jets.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:05 PM ^
given up on D. Definately need to draft another WR.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:10 PM ^
Hahaha the Lions draft wide receivers hahahah Millen needs another wideout hahahaha.
Your cheap, easy joke is out of fashion by five years.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:13 PM ^
I'll call you for advice next time.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:16 PM ^
I'd take Blackmon. We'd put up enough points to overcome the horrid bias the refs have against our D-line.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:07 PM ^
TV off, fuck this.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:07 PM ^
The Saints have had a few more years of competent management than the Lions, who will be there soon.
These guys did a great job this year, and will be worth watching for some time.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:10 PM ^
Our managment has built a D-Line that the league doesn't like and allows to be held by the NFL's favorite sons. Not sure how we are going to progress with the zebras against us like this.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:09 PM ^
I will be pulling for Harbaugh and Brady from here on out.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:17 PM ^
Patriots all the way. Love to see them destroy the Saints in the SB.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:11 PM ^
January 7th, 2012 at 11:12 PM ^
Simple as that. I would love to somehow get Morris Claiborne.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:32 PM ^
Claiborne will be picked at least 15 spots ahead of where the Lions select. I'd love him too but there are too many holes (DB, OL, LB, RB) to trade up and lose picks.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:11 PM ^
call on the false start REF!!
January 7th, 2012 at 11:13 PM ^
I understand Brees is awesome, but really, it's a total defensive meltdown tonight.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:15 PM ^
I know there's no way to win, but I can't believe he isn't using his last timeout. Brian Kellyesque.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:20 PM ^
You get the ball back down three scores with 30 seconds left at your own 3 yard line.
Megatron isn't fast enough to physically cover the length of the field three times in 30 seconds. Methinks that's the better part of valor.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:50 PM ^
Especially because they could have taken a timeout with 2:38 left. Instead, they let the Saints take knee after knee.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:16 PM ^
Things like dropping 3 easy interceptions can not happen when you are playing in the playoffs. Obviously the Lions need better corners too (and LB's who can tackle).
January 7th, 2012 at 11:33 PM ^
Aaron Berry played his last NFL game tonight. He's terrible.
January 7th, 2012 at 11:52 PM ^
The DBs are TURRIBLE! The front 4 cannot get to the QB when there is an open receiver on almost every down. And the LB play in pass defense was just bad all night. This team needs to get help in the secondary. I swear if they draft any offensive players in the first three rounds someone needs their ass kicked!
January 7th, 2012 at 11:17 PM ^
I think we actually had a good game plan against them. Just didn't make a few plays and let it get away. Best available is no longer the draft strategy for this team. We have needs.
