I've spent the morning a little freaked out because Big Ten Media days, despite having zero items of actual interest, certainly feels like something I should be covering the crap out of. And then you flip on the Big Ten Network and Mike Hall says "Michigan will get into a bowl because it's Michigan" at 6-6 when there are rules stating any eligible 7-5 team has to be picked ahead of a 6-6 team and, well… it's not so great.

But here it is if you want to marvel at… it. Enjoy the debt reduction and Michael J Fox Parkinson's commercials, and try not to pass out when Tressel takes the mic.

UPDATE: Whoever the analyst guy is just said Tate Forcier was an "unguided missile," which is… what? And now Greg Robinson is a "beautiful mind." Aaaaargh? I'm so confused.

UPDATE II: I'm done with this now except for a quote from Danny Hope: "having a winning season in 2009 would be one way for this year to be special."

I'd actually gotten to the point where I prefer the Bigten analysts to, say, ESPN "experts" because at least the Big Ten people spend a lot of time watching big ten teams. None of them are ignorant, at least. EXCEPT Chris Martin, the guy that called Tate and unguided missile. Just because he's not ignorant of Big Ten football teams, doesn't mean he's not stupid as hell. Why don't they have Howard Griffith in the studio, or Revsine, or Dinardo? I think all of those guys make reasonably intelligent comments with some frequency.

Danny Hope seemed pretty impressive, even if completely devoid of personality. I only hear the Teacher or Mom or whoever it was from Charlie Brown when Tressel talks...dude is brutally boring!

Tressel's personality when recruiting and when behind closed doors with his team must be much different from his personality in the media, cuz, dude, I need those eyelid clips from "A Clockwork Orange" to stay awake when that guy speaks.

I got home for lunch just in time to watch IU's Bill Lynch give his presser. The Big 10 has no idea what kind of trouble they'll be in with the Hoosiers this year!! They have fourth year players on the line now. Motor City Bowl. Book It! He's talking about brick and mortar from the stadium renovations......HoosierEroc?

thinly veiled shots by Dantonio or really just stating how they are doing at meeting their goals as a program? "We haven't lost either coordinator so we have had consistency there" "We have had very little attrition"

was the ridiculously awkward PSA about parents getting their kids attention when talking to them about drugs. The mom walked into the bathroom of her teenage son and proceeded to open the curtain...wait for it...and look in the shower at him...twice. Thanks for a great Media Day.

The one thing I know from watching Lloyd Carr over the years is you must know how to read between the lines. You need to listen to what is "not" said. Coaches hint, lie, deflect. and puff smoke one just needs to know the difference in the spin game. Forget what the other coaches are saying. Rodriguez believes Michigan will be better. I believe that too! He has his quarterback even though he does not announce him as such. His defense has bought into Greg Robinson's system. He has something very important also a hungry quasi-experienced team. Michigan will win many games this year. Its good to be a Michigan Wolverine!!!!
