Everything this defense and Gibbons have gone through...a big stop and a big FG...amazing.

Stress didn't allow me to drink too much. Needless to say, I am now doing my best to black out.

For today, Go Blue, for tomorrow, Beat Alabama, forever Sugar Bowl champions.

Twitter seems to think it was a catch. Non UM twitters anyway. Looked like it was moving to me.

one way or the other.  Everything about that play was in plain view.  I think it really depends upon interpretation.

Coale initially was bobbling the ball but was able to bring it into a "seal arms" position between his forearms before he and the ball hit the ground.  Falling onto the ball helped force it into his hands as he hit the ground and rolled over.

The view from behind Coale offered the best angle.

I don't think that "seal arms" constituted a catch.  But I doubt "seal arms" is in the college football rule book.  So is a holding the ball in a position where its sure to be knocked free but for falling on top of the ball a catch?  It was stationary.  But I don't think it was yet a catch and "in solid possession".

Alternatively, if the ball had been lodged in a stationary position between his legs, but then jarred when he and the ball hit the ground, would it be a catch?

Ugly game to me but probably the most beautiful thing in the world to the seniors. Congrats guys and thanks for sticking around, you earned it!

Good win for you all

Stings as a VT alumnus but got to point the finger at my own team for Beamer's silly call, and the whole missed FG thing. Can't miss a 30 yarder.

Congrats to you all.

VT outplayed us and deserved to win, but they were undone by a few dumb penalties and turnovers. I think the fake punt was also a mistake, and Beamer should have known better than to try to outmuscle us on 4th and 1. Thomas was clutch. I was cussing him all evening.

I think our player of the game was Gibbons, but shoutouts also to Clark for the pick and Ryan for stuffing the fake punt.

I often whine about refs when they screw the teams I root for. This time, the refs really screwed the opposing team. We would be livid if a group of refs did this to our team. This was worse than Iowa.
