I understand the thinking, but can we calm down on the O'Brien talk until we at least hear something from the man himself about his recruitment, and from what has been stated a couple of times, it seems like Ondre will be the only one at the position for this class, regardless of whether O'Brien decommits or not

That article makes it seem like he might actually have some kind of psychological disorder.  It seems like he's just flying by the seat of his pants with no plan at all.

I scrolled through several of the comments, and interestingly enough didn't see any mention of the irony of not allowing Arnett to transfer whilst breaking commits himself.  EDIT:  Dooley breaking commits, that is.

Rodriguez did this several times.  I hope all you people who are calling Dooley a "scumbag" and "sleazy" and soforth called Rodriguez the same.

I am not that worked up about this stuff, but the Arnett situation seems petty. Also, to be pissing off some good programs in Georgia when you really need that to be a hotbed seems short-sighted to me. And yeah, I know that coaches and kids forget to an extent, but mediocre programs probably need to be more careful.

Tony Drake qualified enough to play for Colorado State.

And yeah, Rodriguez was going to switch Peace's position...which is essentially saying the same thing as Dooley.  They offered Peace as a wide receiver, and then told him that they didn't want him anymore unless he would play cornerback.  You're splitting hairs if you think that's a significant difference.

So you're saying if you qualify at Colorado State you qualify at Michigan? Huh?

Also, telling Peace he wants him at cornerback is NOT the same thing as what  Dooley did, not at all. Dooley is worse for pulling this 1 month from signing day and being as vague as you possibly can with a recruit about their intentions, as opposed to Rodriguez who laid it out for Peace and let him make the choice. Not the same thing. That's not splitting hairs

As for Barnes, he slow played him. He didn't call him up and say "Hey bro, you might possibly maybe might should start possibly perhaps start looking around, cuz, uh we're not sure we want you." He stopped communicating, but never "pulled" his offer.

I think Dooley looks worse perhaps because of all the other negative publicity regarding transfers out of his program, but I can say that Dooley is a slimeball for the way he treats recruits and not say the same about Rodriguez.

As someone else said, the NCAA requirements are the same everywhere.  If he qualified to play at CSU, he was qualified to play at Michigan.  Now Tony Drake might have been one of those academic risks that Rodriguez took that annoyed Dave Brandon, but it still happened.  Don't be naive.

I'm sorry, but I'm LOLing at you splitting hairs between the Dooley situation and the Barnes situation.  Dooley called up the kid and told him that he should look around.  Rodriguez totally ignored Barnes until Barnes got the hint.  Does that somehow make Rodriguez a better guy? Are you serious?

If it's sleazy for Dooley, it's sleazy for Rodriguez.  If it's okay for Rodriguez, it's okay for Dooley.

I read your posts and your blog and I have to compliment you on the info you bring, but how did you miss that?

not defending RR but.  He (dooley) said we hired a new running backs coach and we don't know if he's a spread guy or a scat guy????  smells like bullshit to me it should to you, What D1 coach or any coach at any level does not know what type of system he likes to run.  I get it RR may have asked kids to switch or leave.  But committed for 11 months and you drop the kid on his head?

Switching a posistion is not the same as telling a kid you better look around, cause maybe, and possibly.  code for we don't really want to recruit you anymore

The kid has a choice when you switch his posistion, he can choose to stay or go.

Yeah, it's bullshit.  Dooley is a sleazy coach when it comes to recruiting.  No surprise there.

But Rodriguez didn't even call Jordan Barnes.  He just ignored him until Barnes figured out that he wasn't wanted.  How does that make Rodriguez any better?

Switching a position is EXACTLY the same thing.  The coaches knew that Peace wanted to play receiver, and they offered him the chance to play receiver.  They reneged on that offer by trying to switch him to defensive back.  Oh, you mean you don't want to play DB?  See ya.

You're splitting hairs to try to make Michigan/Michigan's coaches sound better than Tennessee/Dooley, but Rodriguez was almost as shady as Dooley about that stuff (although I admit the Arnett thing pushes Dooley over the top).

Let's call a spade a spade.

It just really seems like UT doesn't even care how the public see them. They fire Fulmer and hire Kiffin. In his one year there has something like 40 minor infractions. He leaves and  they bring in this guy. Theystand behind him while he ruins the life of Arnett. It just seems like all of this bad publicity is OK with the powers that be.
