The Belk Bowl Open Thread
I had to look up Belk.com this morning because I honestly didn't know it was a department store.
Anyway, our contestants here are Louisville (7-5) versus North Carolina State (7-5), so another struggle of so-so teams in another randomly sponsored bowl.
Have fun with this one as well. If there is anything I can do to make these threads better - like more onside kicks as in the Pizza Bowl - let me know.
ESPN at 8 PM. Line is N.C. State by 2.5, I think.

EDIT: This now applies to whoever is running special teams for NC State.

NC State sure loves throwing into double coverage.

500 MGoPoints* to the first poster who can get a .gif up of that receiver's ridiculous dance on the last play.
*May not be true.

I imagined that was a MSU receiver and I laughed.

It's 9:25 PM EST. Do you know where your assignments are?

No like cripple fight. Like dwarf tossing.

Obvious false start is obvious, especially when you realize you're the only one running after 20 yards or so.
EDIT: Charlie Strong sounded like he was speaking from inside a cave...

21-10 at the half. At least these guys stuck to touchdowns and field goals like good Americans and didn't go for any of that onside kick malarky.

Minnesota and Illinois going to overtime

Minnesota - Illinois in 2OT on BTN.

Illinois wins. Red Wings win. Wisconsin beating Nebraska pretty good.

At least, I never thought it would be said so casually, the keys to offense in the Louisville locker room:
"HOLD ONTO THE DAMN BALL"
"MOAR FIRST DOWNS"
ADMONISHMENT TO BOTH TEAMS: WTF with the false starts? Snap count - learn it.

Camera zooms in on Vance Bedford, secondary coach of our 97 defense.

Love seeing coaches mouth swears on TV

Flashback to the 2002 citrus bowl on the commercial hurts me inside.

....about three fumbles or five false starts from now.
EDIT: Ask it after that interception returned for a TD too.

Over over now.

I enjoy that most comments in this thread have nothing to do with the actual game being played.
December 27th, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
didn't read Mathlete's column on time management.

It's been painful watching this game; that is all.

The Louisville offensive line sucks.

My eyes were bleeding after the first quarter.

Belks runs the full spectrum from being EXACTLY like Macy's to being much more upscale. In some of the smaller malls and shopping centers, it's a Macy's clone (better than Kohl's). At the main mall in Raleigh, they actually have two stores -- one only for men that carries Armani, Hugo Boss, Joseph Aboud, XMI, etc (very similar to Nordstroms) and one for women and bridal registries.
All North Carolina brides know to register at Belk's. You just have to do it.
