Boubacar Cissoko Yelled At A Cop
Hey, look over there… it's a bird, it's a plane, it's… AnnArbor.com:
According to a Detroit Police Department arrest report, Cissoko was a passenger in a car that was pulled over June 6 for speeding on Belle Isle.
After a three- or four-minute pursuit, the driver was asked out of the car and hand-cuffed. Cissoko then began yelling “Leave my boy the (expletive) alone,” the report said, and was arrested when he failed to comply with an officer's orders to stop.
Woo! We've got a Henry Gates of our own.
Upshot: a lone Fulmer Cup point, probably, and that's all. Rodriguez provided a generic statement about how the discipline is being handled internally, which implies he won't miss any time. Hopefully in the future Cissoko doesn't hang out with people who react to cop sirens by leading them on a brief chase on Belle Isle.
On the board!
Hey they were just filling the void of the Grand Prix.
The cop should have been leaving his boy (expletive) alone, it's not Cissoko's fault, I thought Belle Isle was under Marshal Law, you can't slow down, it's dangerous.
you can't stop there, it's bat country
He just assumed the poor bastard would see them soon enough...Also, Cissoko was yelling b/c the cop told his friend he should try the land-crab and then tried to kiss him.
can have a policy that keeps our players off of Belle Isle?
I'm yelling at a cop right now!
And some clouds.
Wouldn't you think that a somewhat intelligent person, playing football at a major college program, would say to the driver of that car "hey man, just pull over! If I get in trouble for this I might lose my scholarship!"??? What's going on with the guys out there?!? Hopefully Rich Rod read him the riot act and told him to get his sheeottt together!
id guess it's not on his mind during the offseason when he's out with friends on belle isle
Is Belle Isle near Grande Isle, where Kate Chopin used to summer?
Gates still has three years of eligibility left if he decides to transfer from Harvard. The M club is nowhere near as nice as the Harvard faculty lounge, however, so it's unlikely he'll leave.
the cops should be out responding to 911 calls and not trying to stop Boubie's boys from having a good time. After a four minute pursuit, I don't think the cop would ask the driver out of the car, you would be told to get out with a gun in your face
I've never been to Belle Isle. What goes on there? Is it the hoods hood or what?
They play cricket there.
It's not that bad. Actually, it's a very pretty park to visit. People are allowed to drive in it, though, and you get the occasional lunatic who goes 80. After the sun goes down, the number of lunatics goes way up (though in fairness, this is true for a lot of big-city parks).
I looked at some old picture of me at Belle Isle to check out the people in the background. They looked very docile. Of course it was 1965, and I was wearing shorts with suspenders that my mom dresed me in.
Belle Isle is nice during the day; people BBQ'ing, fishing, etc.. but when that sun sets you better get the hell out. Just epinion or efact. 50/50.
I think this might have had something to do with it.

EDIT: Not what happened with Cissoko, but more why he might have been ticketed for disorderly conduct i.e. the atmosphere on Belle Isle.
Belle Isle is hangout #1 for a lot of Detroit kids looking to joyride in the summer. It's just a big public park that happens to be an island. There's one way on and off the island, and despite some roads going down the middle and sidestreets connecting here and there, it's a loop of road going around the entire island. There's a police station right there on the island, and the cops basically just sit around and wait for the kids to do stupid stuff, which is pretty much inevitable. I've seen it happen. It's like shooting fish in a barrel for the cops. Kids driving too fast, blasting music (which there is an ordinance against doing in Detroit), etc. etc.
I really question the intelligence of anyone who would entertain a chase with the DPD on Belle Isle, because there is legitimately nowhere you can go to escape, although I question even more why anyone, after said chase, would get out of the car and swear at a cop.
C'mon BooBoo, You have great potential and a wonderful opportunity that many people will never get. If you play your cards right you will either play pro ball or network with other alums who are all to willing to give a guy a shot just because he played ball for his alma mater. Either way your financial position is secured.
Focus.
He was probably drunk sticking up for his idiot friend. We've all been there before. He's a kid and made a very bad decision. he's lucky things weren't worse than they ended up. GO BLUE!!!
He was out having fun with his friends, it's not that big of a deal. I mean the fact he got arrested is not good, but it's not like he got a DUI or was arrested because of drug possesion or something.
