Annual Christmas Vacation Warning
Hoke pointing + Denard smiling == Christmas
WARNING: Christmas is approaching. You may already know this.
Since no one's going to be on the site anyway, this is an opportunity for the blog to take a little time off. The blog will be mostly dark from Thursday, the 22nd, to Thursday, the 29th. That means I'm not writing anything. I'll pop on enough to bump any diary that seems interesting enough, and it's possible some of the regular contributors might post something.
I wouldn't count on it. It's just that I don't run their lives and they might feel compelled to post something about, say, Eastern Michigan's season. I know that would be weird. This place is weird.
If something major breaks we'll cover it, but nothing major ever breaks over Christmas.
---------------------------------
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who's contributed to the site over the year, especially those who do so out of the goodness of their heart and a craving for e-attention. Every football season I'm astounded at the quality of the user-generated content around these parts.
Six Zero, Boyz n da Pahokee, Maize_in_spartyland, Enjoy Life, Blue Seoul, AceUofMer, patstansik, Yesman2221, Eye of the Tiger, Ghost Of Bo, CRex, mfan_in_ohio, MaizeAndBlueWahoo, Lordfoul, ST3, mgoweather, LanyardProgram, chunkums, Chris of Dangerous Logic, that guy I photobombed who posted it on the message board, the hundreds of people I've undoubtedly forgotten in the diaries and the board, and even THE_KNOWLEDGE: thank you for helping this new media spectacularrr rumble along.
And most of all the moderators. Thank you, moderators. Without you, this place would be a desiccated horrorscape.
Anyway, content tomorrow and then the break. Merry holiday of choice.

Thanks Ace!

And to all my fellow Jews out there, let's remember when Adam Sandler was funny!
December 20th, 2011 at 1:33 PM ^
Seinfeld was funny... Happy Festivus!

You don't like it? Tough!

Its funny that Brian thinks I want to spend time with my inlaws....my F5 key is going to need replaced by the end of the holidays.
December 20th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
to Space Coyote... who hopefully will have some time off over break to post some more FF 401 classes?
December 20th, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
No Dear Diary most likely. If there's a ton of content that pops up in the next few days on the board and/or the diaries I'll maybe do something but I'll probably just end up covering anything the following week.
If you've got a good diary in mind this is the week to get bumped.
December 20th, 2011 at 1:42 PM ^
There's gonna be a Ton of SOME kind of "content".
December 20th, 2011 at 1:46 PM ^
I have a diary of some sort in the works, we'll see if I get the damn thing done though. Damn me for taking a new job and suddenly not having half my day free to dork around on the internet.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
You're getting MGoCred, and wasn't most of what you published LAST year? Stop living off your laurels. The news coming from NORTH Korea alone should be good for one in-law military alert story. Or sister-in-law with a gun story.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
I'm expanding the horizons and going international, complete with a stop off in Mongolia.
December 20th, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
but but but, I actually have TIME to read this stuff now. oh well, i hope 3&out is in my stocking.

WARNING: Annual Christmas Vacation ANGAR that accompanies content-free mgoblog...
This may be an opportunity for attempted humor...
December 20th, 2011 at 1:58 PM ^
I'm really having a hard time. I think it is because I already know the ending and the events that took us there.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:18 PM ^
You already know the horrible finish, and keep hoping for a surprise happy ending.

My version of Titanic...
Jurgen Prochnow looks through the periscope...."Ja...a nice fat troop transport. We will wait for night and attack on the surface..."

Ok, now you should for sure have time for Skyrim. Desiccated corpses in all of the dungeons!

Manages to work out nicely for the break, doesn't it?
Edit: And the NCAA coming down today...nice bookends to a break, no?
December 20th, 2011 at 2:32 PM ^
KEEP MGOBLOG WIERD
December 20th, 2011 at 2:44 PM ^
Only because I won't have anything to read/do for the next week. :)
I'm a little amazed at how much time I spend on this site, just waiting for something awesome. Like, perhaps a "Hello" post, or a story about how MSU and Ohio suck.
Maybe it's time to blow the dust off of that NCAA '05 game I have for the PS2.

MGoBlog is the gift that keeps giving all year-round.
December 20th, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
I mean, if Indiana State can stand in the way of B10 Schools paying a small stipend and gauranteeing multi year scholarships, surely we can oppose Brian from enjoying his life and voiding us from insightful or hilarious content.
I'll have to ask for MGoProfit's legal advice on this.
Thanks to all who have contributed to this website with insightful and funny content. It was an enjoyable year on MGoBlog, with many Golden poops.
December 20th, 2011 at 3:08 PM ^
If anyone cares, I wanted to let you guys know that I will be here and still posting during the Christmas break.
Now you can all return to laughing at ohio.
December 20th, 2011 at 3:09 PM ^
While sadness takes over my body at the thought of the barren wasteland of information and laughs that will be provided over the next 7 days (hereto named "The Week That Shall Not Be Named" or "TWTSNBN"), I will subdue my depression and try to occupy my time elsewhere just so Brian and his crew may have a break.
Thank you for the quality content on the site, but now I must go huddle in the corner and wait out the next 7 days.
Godspeed to you all on your journeys in the abyss.

aka - the cyber version of liquid muscle...or just straight up I-think-I'm-more-important-than-I-really-am.
December 20th, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
Shouldn't it be "e-ttention"?
December 20th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
Now that Brian has announced that he's going off-line, something big is going to break for sure....tOSU to announce a self imposed ban of 85 scholarships because they hired idots as AD and President ...... Hoke decides to go back to BSU.... every undecided 5 star decides to come to UM.... I'm not sure what it will be, but it will be something. It's kind of like HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL not showing up in the weekly preview.
December 20th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
Enjoy the self imposed exile. I need to fit in time to read this awesome blog every day, and sometimes find that there is too much content for me to get through. I cannot imagine the time it takes to write, edit, compile, etc the plethora (yea, I said it) of information you feed those of us diehards who read even in the offseason.
December 20th, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
I feel like that should say "...a craving for e-ttention"
December 20th, 2011 at 4:55 PM ^
Now is that time for me to slip in my review of EMU's season. Although I've already done that on another blog, so I'll spare you guys the agonizing details. Anyway, thank you to Brian and the rest of the MGoBlog staff for providing such wonderful content about things Michigan.
Also a thanks to the folks that have visited my little corner of the internet......

I thought one of the main rules on MGoBlog was: No religion!
December 20th, 2011 at 5:45 PM ^
Thanks, Brian. Upset Watch will be up in a few. They'll be up every Tuesday between now and the end of the bowl season (last one on January 3rd); as well as a special one covering all the January 2nd games (formerly known as New Year's Day games) - on December 30th/31st.
December 20th, 2011 at 5:46 PM ^
Possibly posted some time after Christmas. I will try to fit it in to the dark period.
December 20th, 2011 at 6:54 PM ^
Thank you Brian, for providing an awesome forum for me to post upon. I love me some MGoBlog!
December 20th, 2011 at 7:26 PM ^
That was an unexpected but welcome shout-out. I was at U-M around the same time as you, and I have fond memories of reading the Every Three Weekly every, well, three weeks or so. When I first stumbled upon MGoBlog and later realized that you had been the editor of the E3W I had an immediate flashback to the first E3W article I could remember: the sudden appearance of a monorail spreading across campus. Outstanding photoshop work, that. I tell my students that if they want people to read or even care about their student newspaper, they should make it more like that. So thanks for all of your writing for the last fifteen years, and for giving me a place to post random thoughts on the Pairwise rankings that no one outside of MGoBlog would care about.

I wonder what a vacation is like when your job doesn't require the wearing of pants.
December 20th, 2011 at 11:10 PM ^
[tips hat in return] I've still got some Moving Picture Pages I haven't done yet, so I'll try to get those out over the next week or so.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:18 AM ^
I've got 2 diaries in the works. I'll post them probably tomorrow and/or friday. One on the Block M proliferation and one on the 4-3 under and what it means for recruiting
December 21st, 2011 at 11:00 AM ^
That made my day! There have been some great diaries over the course of the season. I particularly like Blue Seoul's series, but there have been tons of other great ones too.
Happy Holidays to everyone!
