Don't confuse Palo Alto with San Francisco. I said this in the other thread, but SF is cooler and sometimes cloudier because of the its location at the tip of a peninsula. PA is not this way, and it far warmer and sunnier than San Fran. It's not San Diego or Maui, but Stanford has great weather.

I just got done editing the other post with your details, but you definitely deserve the upvotes and this probably deserves its own thread anyway. Thanks for finding that, GRMichFan.

This kid is awesome. I think he would fit perfect at Michigan. This podcast just reaffirms my earlier thoughts that Garnett would be the number one guy I wanted to join this class.

Thanks for getting this, listening right now and that guy won't shut up on UW.  He says no thought the entire interview.  Seems like Stanford leads when listening to him.  Loves the sunshine and school is important.  Football titles are not the primary focus.

Fast forward to the 19 minute mark unless you care about why he didn't choose Washington. Smart kid and would be a great way to finish off this class. Doesn't appear to be leaning towards any of  the 3 schools at this time.

Need a dominant O-line showing against Va Tech.  Also gotta get Magnusan up there to watch the game with him.

Announcing 2 weeks after Banner to allow Banner to get the hype he deserves too, a good guy would love to see him.

but Josh handled it very diplomatically, even though he probably felt like smashing that guy.  Great kid.  The kind of players you want to represent UM.

is not SoCal.  but it definately has more sunshine than AA.  if michigan gets this kid, cool.  if michigan does not get this kid, then good luck and michigan will probably see him in the rose bowl.

Personally, I doubt that Stanford is going to stay at a high level for much longer. Once Luck leaves (likely after this season), they will probably drop off quite a bit. I don't see many Rose Bowl games in Stanford's immediate future.

I've always liked Garnett, but hearing this interview makes me want him in the winged helmet. Kid is mature beyond his years and would be a great representative to the university.

I don't follow him on Twitter and I didn't know about all the heat he was taking, but it was good to hear Michigan fans were supporting him. That's the type of publicity I want from our fanbase, not that we were bashing a kid.

Garnett is probably the best player we can add to this class right now.

Back when I was an undergrad, I had several friends enrolled in the Inteflex combined undergrad/med school program at Michigan. My understanding is the program no longer exists. That would have been perfect for Garnett.

Regarding California and Palo Alto weather, it is gorgeous. The campus is beautiful, and I love the weather. There is a nice bite to the air in the Winter (think a crisp sunny October day in Ann Arbor) but it never gets too hot. The range is pretty narrow, generally between 50 and 80 year round. All things being equal, I'd gladly live in California, at least for school.

I can understand the sunshine statement, although the summers were fantastic out there.  He sounds like a sharp kid.  I have a feeling he's going to choose Michigan.

Go Blue!

AB UM, MA UC-Berkeley.

So, yeah, Bay Area is better for climate.  Standford campus -- matter of taste; rich but pretty bland.  Berkeley kills it for gorgeous setting, and it may be not as hot in summer.   Much better for frisbee golf.

Anyhow, to a kid from the Northwest, indeed there will be lots of sunshine.  Not to mention that Stanford is an awesome University.  The only downside to the Bay Area?  Congestion, everywhere.  Too many cars, too many people.  And good luck finding affordable housing in Palo Alto.

Good luck to Garnett & hope he goes Blue despite the message about his preference.

Webb has been consistently saying that it will be tough to get Garnett away from the west coast, and this podcast confirms that. If we get any further OL commits it'll be Diamond or some other late addition to the OL list. If somehow we did manage to get Garnett, it would be a bigger recruiting coup than getting Dunn would have been, IMHO.
