So you're telling everyone that if you were offered a better job at another company after one year being at your current company, you would decline and tell them, "Well, I have only been here one year, so I'm going to stay a little while longer to please everyone. Call me in six months."

I'm not trying to be a dick, just saying that people should always accept a better job when it comes along.

How is Arizona State a better job than Pitt? And why are you comparing "head coach of Div I football team" to any other job?

This.  100,000 times this.  None of us know the circumstances around the contract/behind the scenes issues/family location/etc.  I don't think any of us would tell a coworker who takes a better job (or at least more desirable to the person accepting the job) that they are a classless asshole who has no respect for the sanctity of our organization?

However, when sports are involved suddenly we get really pissed.  Like other people have said...it's probably winter break so the players aren't on campus.  You are offered a job that you see as better.  Who here wouldn't sign and run?  I know football isn't a job for most of us and the thought of people looking at it as a job is unpalatable.

So.  Next time you get all pissed off when you realize football is a business...ask yourself, would I get mad if someone did an analogous thing in my field?  If the answer is yes, well by all means go ahead with your rant.

Oh that school that Bo spent 4 years coaching at.

(The preferred nomenclature is "That school in Ohio" as opposed to just Ohio.  We can't be insulting the Bobcats!)

Edit:  When was Graham at tSIO?  I don't see it on his wiki.

I can't tell if this will help get recruits to decommit from Pitt or help them stay. They would decommit cause they would realize that the guy that recruited them is an asshole, but then then they might stay because they realize he is so bad a person that the next coach could only be better

When my assistant lacrosse coach in college decided to leave and take a position at UNC he called each of us personally and he had only been with the team for two years. I don't really remember the times he yelled at me or the times he made us run... I remember that he took the time to call me. I get that it's an awkward time of the year, but it doesn't take much to make a classy exit, regardless of how long you've been with a team.

My son was on a travel baseball team last year and the coach cut a player mid season by texting the mom.

After the one millionth time he f bombed the kids and had a temper tantrum in the  middle of the game, my son said that he no longer wanted to play for him.

Since he cut a player via text message, we quit via email.

....at least be creative and text your team the Morse Code equivalent of your farewell message. I imagine that, if he had the nuts to  do it, he would have done in person....in Semaphore.
