Urban Flippin Recruits: Sevon Pittman

Just saw this tweet...

JoshBDraft 4Star DE Sevon pittman Visit from urban Meyer tonight. Will commit to OSU & decommit from MSU

He is a writer for a scouting site.  Think we all saw this one coming.  Dont think Sparty, Penn State, and Wisconsin will be big fans of Ohio when the smoke clears.

They'll lose a couple of scholarships a year for a few years.  Given the shennanigans that are available, that's no big deal.  They won't be able to go to a bowl in 2012-13.  That's bad, but if you're an incoming freshman, it's not a big deal, especially if you're going to be redshirted.   I may be wrong, but that's your fallback when you're selling Ohio to recruits.

They can take out the trash as far as I'm concerned of the guys we didn't want.  Notice how nobody from Michigan is switching, and Dunn may switch to Michigan.  Sucks to be a Sparty fan though your one good recruit leaves.

If he wasn't coming to Michigan I really wish he wasn't going to OSU or MSU.  And people saying Schutt isn't any good are not seeing things clearly.  I like Michigan's commits a lot and think they will do really well, but OSU has a solid D-line coming in with Washington in that mix.  The Big Ten is going to keep producing tons of NFL talent from the D-lines.

Definitely true, but at the same time, I'm sure part of the reason UM commits wouldn't be switching is the stigma that comes with spurning one school for the other, in particular Michigan and Ohio. I don't think Kalis could ever drop out of here and recommit and it'd be like nothing happened, not that he's planning to. MSU commits wouldn't have many problems switching to Ohio because its not like they have much of a rivalry with each other. If it involves UM, its a different story.

This is true.  Schutt and Pittman both commited to their back-up schools and still were always on the market.  I mean Pittman pretty much said he's only committed to Michigan State till something better comes around.  Washington was going to Ohio State regardless and other than those three, no new commits.

Urban's dangerous in recruiting but I'm still confident in Hoke and Mattison.  I don't think Meyer will be able to lock down Ohio like Tressel did.  I'm interested to see Meyer in another high-profile job and to see if he can repeat his success.

If Meyer were recruiting for OSU against late Lloyd and RR...yeah, I think he would have gotten whoever he wanted from Ohio, maybe even gotten kids like Jordan Hicks.  This is a different dynamic at this point. Not to say that Meyer can't do extremely well in Ohio but as is almost every year, you can't take everyone from Ohio, there is simply too much talent.

Haha Sparty. So cute trying to recruit against big brother and his peers. It's just like backyard football, where the little guy tags along and nobody wants him on their team.

The affected bravado rings a little hollow after four years of failure against your "Little Brother".

Your reaction to this news tells all you need to know about where your priorities are. Rather than saying "Damn, our rival got a good recruit", you're saying "LOLZ SPARTY HURR". How the mighty have fallen...
