Yeah, I know, it's not regarding a local team. But we're talking about the National League MVP getting suspended for 50 games here. It's kind of a big deal, so here it is.

As sad as it is, I'm not sure there is a name in MLB that could surface in this type of report that would shock me anymore.

Did Alex Sanchez surprise you? Steroids aren't just for bodybuilders.

former Tiger Nook Logan. All 165 lbs of him.

A positive test from Derek Jeter would shock me. There aren't too many others that immediately come to mind.

Braun is probably won of the coolest and most friendliest sports personalities that I've ever met. It can't be true. It won't be true.....
December 10th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
Well, keep in mind, as the article states, this hasn't been annouced, due to the fact that this has to go through arbitration.
December 10th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
It's another black eye at the highest level of the game, something MLB really can't afford these days.

Also, Prince Fielder tested positivie for PEZ

I think whoever gives him anything longer than 5 years is going to get stuck with a bad contract sooner than most think. Given his body type and his genetics, I've got to believe that he's going to break down in a few years.
December 10th, 2011 at 8:35 PM ^
Who might even be older than the 32 (in January) they claim. Prince is only 28.

The funniest thing I've read today. Thanks.

As a Brewers fan, this is devastating. My friends and I are just shell shocked right now. Our entire next season is ruined and our memories of last season tarnished forever, unless there's some miracle lab explanation that even the writers of CSI Miami would find implausible.
December 10th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
As a Milwaukee native and Brewers fan I am crushed. And to reiterate what people have said, I have never heard anything but good things about Brauney as a man. After Brett's penis I don't know if we Wisconsinites can take another shattered icon.
December 11th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
Dear Lord, please let "After (name)'s penis I don't know if we (group of people/school) can take another shattered icon," become a meme on here. This is going to blow people in Ohio buying jerseys right out of the water!
December 10th, 2011 at 8:34 PM ^
Kind of surprised, but I guess I shouldn't anymore. Hopefully nothing comes out about Verlander; that would be devastating.
December 10th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
It was only the hitters! /s
All kidding aside, if Verlander did come up positive I would be crushed.

but this and Pujols defection only helps my Reds.

Predictably, ESPN is currently orgasming over this story. Expect to see it at the top of SportsCenter for the next few days.

After hearing his quotes on how A-rod should handle coming out with his steroid allegations, Braun better not be a hypocrite (or liar).
December 10th, 2011 at 10:46 PM ^
I know this is a big deal but it shouldn't have been the first thing they talked about on sportscenter
December 11th, 2011 at 2:30 AM ^
It's only a little extra testosterone, what's the big deal? Fuck me.
Apparently there was a second test that his camp claims proves differences between the first and second tests and makes the first test illegitimate.
But no one has ever successfully appealed a positive test.
This sucks something fierce. It'd be like if Denard tested positive after just winning a big ten MVP award and leading us to a rose bowl.
He's the face of our franchise for basically this entire decade for God sakes.
My favorite player since Yount and I'm not handling this well.
Found out in some texts from my guys while at a dinner theatre for a christmas show with my pregnant wife Needless to say it was sifficult to maintain my "christmas spirit" Shitbitchhelldamnassfuckshit!!!
Holding out hope that there's some plausible explanation but his legacy is tarnished, only a matter of how much.
I said no one would ever surprise me but I'll be freakin damned this surprised the shit out of me. Shame on me I suppose.
December 11th, 2011 at 2:46 AM ^
embarrassing is his freaking haircut on espn after winning MVP. Wtf.
December 11th, 2011 at 6:30 AM ^
The report indicated that elevated levels of testosterone were found in Braun’s system and a more comprehensive test found that the testosterone was synthetic, and not produced naturally by Braun’s body.
The report indicated that Braun had a high level of epitestosterone, a naturally produced substance that appears typically in a 1-to-1 ratio with testosterone in the body. The report indicated that once the ratio is 4-to-1 or higher, the player is officially positive.

Thank you baseball for continuing to prove (to me anyways) why you suck as a sport. If a player as high profile as Braun thinks he can avoid detection then i'm guessing there are many more still trying to cheat at all levels of the game.
They should just say fuck it and leagalize everything like that SNL skit years ago on the "all steriod olympics". What a joke.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:29 AM ^
I'm sure you'll be tuning into the NFL this afternoon though!
December 11th, 2011 at 12:54 PM ^
But he didn't avoid detection. This is the point.
