I also upvoted this as funny.

But.  When you tell me somebody is "backing up" another player, I think that he is both in the rotation and *the* primary backup.

Shane Battier is going to Miami to backup LeBron James.

vs

Darius Morris will backup Chris Paul.

Connotation is important.

Owners were irate in Board of Governors meeting with Stern, livid that the league-owned Hornets were allowed to make Paul deal, sources say.

What trade do you think they can get? CP3 has had some pretty big injury issues. He has very little incentive to re-sign with most teams except the Knicks(nothing to trade), the Lakers, the Celtics(Rondo? no thanks), and then what? Maybe the Clippers?

They can't wait it out. At the end of the season he's signing with the Knicks if they don't trade him.

Isaiah's prime basically coincided with Magic's prime.  He only played for a couple of years after Magic retired, and at that point in his career, he wasn't as good as a mid-career Chris Paul.  Or a mid-career Jason Kidd or Gary Payton.

Caveat: I'm basing this argument on a glance at basketball-reference.com and my memory as a 10-year-old.

Another example of the NBA (not) being Fantastic! It really is a such a joke any more that it is not even funny. Stern has made this league into a laughing stock in the matter of few short years.

The league owns the Hornets.  They still have a general manager, of course (Jeff Demps), but from the outside it looks like the suits just facilitated the transfer of a superstar to one of the two biggest markets in the country.  People are not happy.
