Tom Herman to be Ohio's QB coach
http://eye-on-collegefootball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/24156…
He's the OC/QB coach at Iowa State.

QB coach...
Not OC.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
Fixed, thanks

Says he was OC/QB coach at ISU, but will be QB coach at ohio. Rice and ISU on his resume which doesn't seem all that impressive. I assume he has some relationship with Urban or is a rising star or something. Never heard of the guy. Kirk Ferentz is cursing somewhere. Still has to face the guy.

ISU's style of offense kills him. Assume this hurts ISU.

limited to setting up the film projector. Never coached QBs, Tressel only hired him because he was a GA at Youngstown.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
Good. I did not want Loeffler at OSU.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:53 PM ^
Have there every been any Michigan alumni who became assistant coaches at OSU? I know we had Moeller, but have any gone the opposite way?
December 8th, 2011 at 8:15 PM ^
Whew for a sec I thought it said Tom Harmon. I thought he went Boren on us.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:20 PM ^
Do you see an "O" on Tom Harmon? UMfan21...do you...see an "O"...on Tom Harmon? No! You do not, because Tom Harmon is cool.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
Well that's not that scary. Iowa State is like 50th in total offense? In the Big 12, where they don't play defense?
December 8th, 2011 at 8:21 PM ^
Well, they scored enough points to beat Iowa and Oklahoma.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:28 PM ^
They're 6-6, 86th in scoring offense, 80th in offensive FEI. They scored an average of 23 points per game. Not exactly world-beaters.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
87th in offensive FEI last year. I guess he hasn't had the most talent to work with but it's not like he's done anything that impressive except for the upset of Oklahoma this year.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:35 PM ^
Oklahoma State to you too.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:34 PM ^
Oklahoma State.
December 8th, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
Yep, you're right. Just a late night at work.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:24 PM ^
With far less talent than most other Big 12 teams. From the tiny bit I've seen from Herman, it looks to be a decent hire.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:21 PM ^
They do have big upsets this year to show for. While he's not a known name, he may be a rising star.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
He is a rising star. He is only 36 years old and already has experience as an OC. He isnt a big name guy bc he's coached at small schools, but he will be a future head coach.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
Luke Fickell will be retained in an "as yet undetermined role".
Idea:
December 9th, 2011 at 6:53 AM ^
He will be the assistant coach in charge of playcalling on critical drives with less than two minutes to go in huge rivalry games.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:37 PM ^
is joining RR is AZ as co-offensive coordinator.
December 8th, 2011 at 8:45 PM ^
It's not a big deal, one way or the other. Urbie is the brains behind the offense and I think he said he even intends to call his own plays. And this guy is not even the OC, he is the QBs coach. Unless he is an amazing recruiter, this is not the guy we need to worry about.
December 9th, 2011 at 1:34 AM ^
A lot of people think Dan Mullen was one of the key cogs of Urban's offense at Utah and Florida.
December 9th, 2011 at 5:46 AM ^
... but even if that is true, this guy isn't Dan Mullen. I think whoever Urbie hires as his DC and the rest of the defensive staff will be more important than the QB coach. Again, with the caveat about recruiting. Some coaches are literally hired more for their recruiting prowess than their coaching ability, so if this guy is some killer recruiter, that would be significant.

AAAAAAHHHHHMMMMMMM! And just who in the hell cares about who is on Ohio's staff.
no offense meant toward you, GegBlau
December 8th, 2011 at 8:49 PM ^

Why should we care? Did Ohio fans go "Jerry Montgomery, new UM Dline coach!"
Is this guys a big deal or something?
