Reminder Vote: Brady Hoke for Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year!

Submitted by Leaders And Best on

Reminder to vote Hoke for Coach of the Year.  Fan vote counts for 20% of the selection process so your vote will make a difference. You can vote once a day and voting ends Dec. 22nd. Currently, Hoke sits in 2nd place about 5,000 votes behind Bill Snyder. How does KSU have better voting bots than us? This is Michigan fergodsakes.

Also, is there anyone more technologically savvy or current student who can start a facebook campaign to get the vote out for Hoke?  If he loses based on the other criteria, fine, but he should not lose this award based on a stinking fan vote when we fill the largest stadium in the country every weekend. I've said my peace.

Facebook campaign is a good idea. Current students and recent alumni should be posting on their class's Facebook page. (I'm assuming everyone has those, right?)

Serious question - why would you pass on voting to support our coach, which indirectly supports our team?  As fans, there is virtually nothing that we can go to influence how our team does, with some notable, albeit very minor, exceptions:

1.  Cheering as loudly as possible at home games can make it harder on opposing offenses to get their plays in.  (See MSU this past year).

2.  Voting in silly things like this.

On point 2, the reason that this could matter  - although I concede that it probably doesn't - is that it may give Hoke a bit more cred when he walks into a top recruit's home.  Being the most recent coach of the year could make a recruit more willing to hear him out, and, again very minimal impact, at least gives him something to combat Urban's shiny NC rings.

Even if this has no impact, why would you not want to support the coach of the team that you seem to root for?

His Dudness is stubborn and still butt-hurt over the RR firing.  He refuses to see that Hoke has built a fantastic coaching staff, assembled an elite recruiting class, won 10 games, beat OSU and earned us a bid in a BCS bowl, all things RR never did.

I was never an RR hater, in fact I was a major RR defender up until the end.  But every aspect of our football program is better today than it was a year ago.  So get over it Dudeness and support your team, or cancel your account and join an Arizona blog, because it's starting to look like you have more allegiance to RR than you do to Michigan.

Alumni will be alumni. I was proud of that at one point. Still am based on educational merit. The Athletic Department will get no such pride from me until it is cleared out. Ask Bacon how he feels about the current Athletic Department. He is an outstanding alumn and is wonderuing if he is going to be blackballed from teaching classes at UofM... that speaks for itself about just how dysfunctional thie regime is. It will all come out in due time.

But why post on a fan site of a team you're no longer a fan of?  If we play Arizona it might interest you, but at the level of posting that "pass" consists of, it's just trolling.

No one is saying feel different. They're just wondering what the hell you get out of hanging out around here for a team you don't like anymore.

Pass?  I don't think so.  I have said this to those who slam RR, and I will also say the same thing to those who don't support Brady Hoke: it isn't a case of either/or.  Whoever is the coach at any given time is deserving of the support of the entire fanbase.  The only exception is if a coach has been around for a long time and is beginning to see diminishing returns.

The politics don't matter.  The last three years, we saw exactly what can happen to a great program if those who didn't get their way decide to be petty and not support the coach.  Even if you didn't like the hire, it is impossible to fault Hoke for taking his "dream job."    It is also impossible to fault Hoke for his results.  Right now, Hoke is the head coach, and what's good for Hoke is good for the program.

As michgoblue already said, a coach of the year award could help in recruiting.  Any national award, whether it is for the team, a player, or a coach, is another "feather in the cap" of the Michigan Wolverines.  Recruits and their parents like to see plenty of "feathers."

Ultimately, Brady Hoke didn't get on the ballot as a courtesy; he earned it.  Hopefully, he picks up at least one coach of the year award.  Anything that we can do to help should really be a no-brainer for those of us who call ourselves "Michigan fans."

Seriously?  We have the largest living alumni base, and we are losing to Kansas?  People, this is a terrible showing.  Vote daily, and use multiple email addresses (for my computer, this required me to use one email address to vote in Internet Explorer and another to vote in  Chrome, so you may need to resort to these tricks.

Some on people, the readership of this blog alone should be able to make up this difference.  Support Hoke and support the team.

I voted in this because I have a spamination email address I use when corporations use "awards" to collect email addresses.  I'd not give a used and live email address to something like this were I in anyone else's shoes.  Hotmail accounts are free and seem to last forever, so go there and create a bogus account that you will never use, so don't care if it gets spammed.  Then vote daily in this poll.

You have to remember it's not that we are just losing head to head with KSU. Many other fanbases resent Michigan and will vote against them in anything and Bill Snyder is one of the most popular coaches in football. He's my second favorite after coach Hoke.
