Sugar Bowl Wiki

From the most recent Wikipedia entry for the Sugar Bowl:

The 2012 Sugar Bowl has a new sponsor this year. Sweet N Low has elected to sponsor the bowl because it emulates their image as fake sugar. The Sweet N Low Bowl will be handing out free soft drinks at the game this year to fans of both teams. A spokesman for Sweet N Low reflected "if you can get two mediocre teams into a BCS bowl, it should be easy to sell fake sugar. We look forward to being part of this bowls rich history and hope to be a sponsor again next year unless the whole BSC system collapses."

The previous paragraph was written by a bitter Sparty; his misspelling of "BCS" is understandable, as Sparty as never played in the Sugar Bowl, or any other BCS bowl game.

You are bitter because you lost the BTC game and you aren't going to a BCS bowl game.

Now that I think about it, it's funny as hell that you actually won the BTC last year, and still didn't go to a BCS game.

Is anyone else dealing with bitter sparty fans that continue to bring up their record against Michigan the last four years? Do they just not understand? it is mind-boggling to me how some of these people(my sister and state alumn) come to conclusions about this entire situation. I'm starting to just realize that they just don't get it, no matter what factual evidence I use to show why they are not in a BCS game.

the sugar bowl in hopes of finding out who the home team is. Everything I see has it listed as VT vs. Michigan. I also read at least 10 articles saying neither team is worthy of a BCS game. I don't understand all the hate for Michigan this year. These kids went 10-2 against 10 bowl eligible teams the most in the nation and played the best OOC schedule in the B1G. Sure PSU played Bama but nobody else really. I looked back at MSU and of their 10 wins 5 came against 4 teams who finished under.500 and a 1AA school who finished 6-6. They played 6 games against teams with a winning record and went 3-3 in those. The Michigan hate just amazes me. I really think the majority of the press and fans loved it the last three years when we were not so good.

....when they would reform the "BSC" system, and I would like to thank Sparty for finding out that the makers of Sweet'N'Low are on top of this. There has to be a better way than a beam steering controller to rely on phased array optics, right?

If it was a sparty, they need to realize that when they call Michigan and VaTech mediocre, that makes them less than mediocre considering they have a worse overall record than either of those teams.

a sparty at work that they have to make up their minds. Last year they were upset at the lack of a big ten title game and they were stuck in a 3 way tie. Now all I am hearing if there was not a big ten title game they would be in the BCS. You just cant win with these people.

No kidding. I've had it with Sparties.

They were 6-7 TWO years ago! They have lost FOUR straight bowl games! They couldn't complete seize the opportunity of having a down Michigan squad to wholly win the Big Ten Title last year, and they lost to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game this year.

They'd have a better bowl if they had a better long-term history and better short-term bowl performance, but even that is missing the point; if you are from the Big Ten your goal should be a trip to the Rose Bowl or National Championship Game. Anything else is just one more chance to suit up and get a win for the Seniors.

Crying about which *exhibition* game you got is embarrassing, especially when they were entirely in control of their destiny (win two more games and you're in the NCG conversation, win one more and you're in the Rose Bowl) the entire season. The real victim here are teams that don't make a bowl game at all, such as 7-5 Western Kentucky (7-1 in their conference). Go bitch to them about how Michigan lost to Appalachian State and Toledo a couple years ago, Kirk Cousins. I'm sure that'll make them feel better.

That's the thing, even with 35 bowls, someone is going to get left out. Michigan State comes from one of the top conferences so as long as they have a winning record they are pretty much a shoe in for a bowl game somewhere. Generally that is a decent bowl. If they win the Big 10, they are are guaranteed a slot in a BCS bowl. There are many conferences that don't even have a shot at a BCS bowl. Now if MSU were EMU and looking at the last time being in a bowl was 24 years ago, then I could see their bitch.

Yes it is two years in a row that they got shut out of the BCS bowls but still....

Exactly.

If you had given me the option of playing Wisconsin in the BCG and the outcome is either the Rose Bowl or the Outback Bowl, I'd jump at the chance 8 days a week. If you fail, so be it, and you better have a damn smile on your face because ten other teams in the conference didn't have the opportunity to win the damned conference and would gladly trade places!

If that were me, barely missing out on the Rose Bowl, I couldn't give a shit about where the rest of the conference gets to play during bowl season. I'd root for them, regardless, and I'd focus on my own team and wonder how we could take the next step and finish the work we started. This isn't like undefeated Auburn being left out of the NCG, this is a three loss team being left out of the *BCS*. Big. Deal.

Michigan State focusing on Michigan is sour grapes and nothing more.

Not to be a total nerd here, but I only clicked through to see if you were using "Wiki" right – as in, this post would be about a user-editable website dedicated to the Sugar Bowl, which would have really surprised me. You weren't though. "Wiki" isn't short for Wikipedia; Wikipedia is just one example of a wiki, "the encyclopedia wiki."

Sparty continues to think Michigan getting in the Sugar Bowl is what kept them out of a BCS bowl. No matter how many times you tell them, they can't comprehend that MSU would not have been in a BCS bowl even if Michigan wasn't either because Sparty finished outside the top 14.
