Rumeal Robinson loses appeal
You may recall that Rumeal Robinson was convicted of various types of fraud and consipiracy to commit fraud. It showed up on the board a few times, an example of which can be seen here: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/rumeal-robinson-sentenced-6-12-yrs-financial-fraud.
Anyhow. Rumeal lost his appeal before the Eighth Circuit. The opinion was issued today. You can find it here (http://www.ca8.uscourts.gov/opns/opFrame.html) if you click on "Today's Opinions" (sorry, can't find a way to link to it directly).

in entirely negative terms, yet there isn't a single thing that any of them ever did or said that is even in the same universe of fucked up as what Robinson did.

After all the opportunities he's been given and his difficult early life notwithstanding, there's no excuse for what he did. And now it's time to pay the price. I guess I'll just try to remember the Michigan point guard Rumeal who hit the big free throws in 1989. He was probably the best pure athlete I've ever seen in a Michigan basketball uniform.

It's sad that it came to this really, but I don't really have sympathy for Rumeal Robinson. What he did was on a different plane when compared to any of the transgressions of the Fab Five. I will still remember that '89 team fondly though.

Some of the stuff he's done is reprehensible. Even worse, he's shown no contrition for his actions. Seriously, other than crackheads, who steals from their own mother?
He fully deserves his prison time.
He's a very sick man. Let's hope some time on the inside can help rehabilitate him and help him understand that he needs to make a serious, honest change.

Can you re-title it to Rumeal Robinson? I almost had a heart attack thinking Denard did something and he wouldnt be eligible to play in Sugar Bowl. Might just be my jumpiness

As someone who knew Rumeal in college this is such a tragic conclusion to his story. He was a quiet, grounded kid who just wanted to play basketball. It's a shame that he'll spend the next 6 years in jail and come out pennyless, without skills (other than a crossover dribble) and feeling like the system let him down. I hope there isn't a follow up story in 7 years about him going back for another crime.

Wow, what a sad story. I hope Rumeal can get his life straightened out and find a way to begin the redemetion process to those that cared for him.
