Dayne Crist to Wisconsin?

Submitted by hart20 on

Word on other message boards (Scout, Rivals, NDNation) is that Dayne Crist is going to transfer to Wisconsin. Not as big as a get for Wisconsin as Wilson was but Crist is probably better than any other QB on that roster after Wilson leaves. Crist has 1 year of elgibility and will be able to transfer and play immediately just as Wilson did. He'd be able to play in ND's bowl game and then transfer in time for spring semester and be able to participate in spring practices.

If Rees decides to transfer too, it'd be pretty bad for ND. The ND depth chart at QB would be Hendrix and.... Not exactly the depth you would want when your QB is scrambling and taking hits as often as Hendrix would.

You have to love Brian Kelly burning bridges.

What does the board think?

Rees isn't going anywhere and Crist was done this year anyways.  Its not a blow to ND at all. After Rees is Hendrix and then Golson.  Both of those guys can run BKs offense and are mobile.  Add to the fact that Kiel will be committing to ND any day and the QB position is looking good.

Seriously? Is this an intentional recruiting method that only evil Badger Genius Bret "No Smiles" Bielema is on to? Wait until Big State pisses off highly touted QB; lure him to Lake Mendota with the promise "Jump Around;" and watch the awesome cheese curd infused tailgating/training table magic happen.

I have always thought Crist has potential.  I could see him doing well at Wisc.  Maybe we play him in next year's title game.

But Brian Kelly sucks.  Terrible game coach, and clearly is not managing the ND program either.  I know many people think he's great.  They are wrong.

I love that Dennard f's ND up every year.  Go Blue!

I guess this plan makes some sense for Wiscy, but I have a hard time seeing a game this year where having Russell Wilson under center made a demonstrable difference in the outcome.  Wiscy wins when they run the ball well and keeps the other team's offense at bay; in the two games they lost they let good defensive squads (MSU and OSU) slow down their running game enough that the score was close, and did just enough offensively to keep Wiscy guessing.  Sure, maybe an inexperienced replacement makes those games less competitive, but losing two road games on last-second TD tosses wasn't really on any particular player.  And for their wins, maybe Nebraska was helped by having Russell, but that was the type of butt-whupping that probably could have been accomplished with a couple of PA tosses and some screens.

So the long and short of it is that if Crist does wind up going to Madison, the Badgers will probably win 10 games next year, which is about the number of wins they'll always have if they play a crappy OOC schedule and run over the creampuffs on their schedule.

I have to whole heartedly disagree that Wilson didn't make a demonstrable difference this year. Did you watch the game at Lucas Oil last night? Couple efficiency, maturity and a boatload of game experience along with an excellent oline and Montee Ball... Russell Wilson was the difference on that team. He has the ability to take advantage when defenses stuff the box and play the run. Look at some of the throws he made last night to keep them in the game. I feel its safe to say; if Jon Budmeyer is Wisconsins starting qb, they don't play for the B10 Championship...

Just another reason to be a proud Michigan fan living in the heart of Wisconsin. Bielema can no longer gloat about building from within the Wisconsin program. Crist is Wisconsins only option at winning anything next year.
Make the world a better place and punch Bret Bielema in the face
