Michigan-Virginia B-Ball Open Thread

Game on ESPN2, and maybe the last good one till almost the new year (Iowa State isn't what they once were, and lost to Drake).  So might be the last exciting game with a month's worth of development (maybe more...how do we start AND end the Big Ten season with Penn State?). And if I'm wrong, there's always Rudolph at 8 pm. (Oh who am I kidding, set your dvr).

THAT was the dagger, down 7 give up an offensive board that turns into a 3.  For future reference, please box out and learn to jump when the ball is coming, the defender can't get it without an over the back call.

Our confidence is so fragile. Most embarrassing half of basketball I can remember in a long while. Bad coaching (Novak on Scot), bad focus (travels, turnovers) and bad shots (hardaway forgetting that passing is a valid option, too). Putrid putrid basketball.

Credit Virginia they have smothered us on defense, but my god Stu Douglass has the worst shot selection ever, you would think 4th year in the offense would make a difference but it hasn't.

I just don't even know what to think after this steaming pile.  We came out with no heart and no effort.  Virginia looks horrible, this could really end up haunting our RPI.  I think anyone would beat us the way we played tonight.

Losing to the unranked UVA boys kind of dampens the fun a bit.  Maybe they'll turn out to be a good team, but this seems like a let down following Memphis & Duke performances.

Doesn't seem like we had much luck hitting our shots, and there were a few silly calls.

this VA team is not that good.  they have 1 maybe 2 decent shooters.  we just got completely outhustled on the boards and constantly dribbled into traffic, turning the ball over or forcing bad shots.  beilein will have a field day with this in practice this week.

As much as I hate to say it. We'll never be a consistent team until we get a big man down low that we can go to when we are struggling to find our shots. We don't have that and it hurts as you can see tonight. We let that skinny ass 5th year senior Scott take control of this game and I doubt he has another game like this the rest of the season. I am so disgusted losing to this team. I really hope they prove me wrong and end up being a decent team. (UVA that is)

If Beilein teams were only judged by how they play in December he'd have been fired 5 times over. It's how he has them playing in February and March that matters.

Anybody else think we are expecting way to much of Hardaway? I mean he was above average last year and had a good summer, but he no longer has Morris to feed him the rock and he has appeared to disappear from parts of games. He will be good but hes not a superstar yet.
